For the most part it comes down to models AND experience, lol. But more importantly, imo, it comes down to if you're willing to do the work. I used to look at my favorite artists and hold their ability on a pedestal, believing their talent to be some unattainable goal, but as I grew the more I came to realize that I was holding myself back by doing that. The truth is I wasn't just admiring their skill... I also couldn't comprehend the work that went into what they were doing. Quite in fact I was taking that point for granted.

Make no mistake, no matter how easy it seems or how easy an artist might tell you it is... art is NOT easy, lol. Even when things are easy for me I still acknowledge the work it took for me to get where I'm at. To be an artist is to be super aware of things that others might find... insignificant.

So long story short, lol, work hard. Study lighting, anatomy, form, composition. Work hard, appreciate the process and don't take this job for granted. Do that and I'm sure you'll be spouting the same rhetoric I'm giving you to someone else looking for tips on how YOU did it 😉

Thank you for the advice. In my opinion, not to brag about it, if you told me to copy this particular piece and do the shading properly, I wouldn't find it that difficult. My whole life till this point I've learned how to make copies of things I see and artwork of other people, bit still understand how they actually did it, why they shaded it that way, or the anatomy.
But I'm still struggling on actually creating characters of my own, giving them style and doing details on my own from experience. I am improving a lot on anatomy and face structure these days, but I look forward to finishing school so I can commit fully to Art.
It's just an awesome feeling, creating something new, experimenting with different styles, getting feedback and checking how you've improved.
So I definitely am willing to work hard on my passion. Thanks for the talk!

Studying Art will give you experience. Drawing shapes, shading and textures all add up. Satin is much different than cotton, or burlap or vinyl. Play around a bit and have fun.
