This is a graphite pencil drawing that I did of Taylor Swift. I used a B8, HP, B4, mechanical pencil, mechanical eraser, tissue paper, and white gel pen.Related content

Very nice. I thought I was the only artist who uses mechanical pencils.Β Love them, they train you not to press too hard and make indentations on the paper.Β How long did it take you?Β Β

Nice.Β It's always good not to rush portraits, something I don't always have the patience for myself.Β I like how the hair is very detailed (probably from using smaller pencils), also you managed to get the lips to look glossy.Β The skin looks so smooth and fair, very nicely done on that also.Β What might help you would be if you could get a hold of a scanner.Β I used to use cameras also to do my deviations, but then I found the scanner and it greatly improved what I could get to show in the scans.Β You don't have to mess around with the lighting with the scanner since it illuminates the entire page.Β Not sure if you have access to one or not, but if you can, I would try that.Β You definitely got talent, not sure if you want to keep doing photorealism or move on to stuff from the imagination (my expertise), but either way you have a good eye for proportions and drawing what you see, which is one of the hardest skills for an artist to learn.Β Another thing you got going for you is that you are seeking critique.Β Always a good thing in any field to look for.Β Take care.Β Drawing is a great amount of fun, that feeling of accomplishment you get when you make something you like never goes away. I've been doing it since I could pick up a pencil, I'm 26 now and love relaxing to draw or paint.Β Β

Awesome, dude! But I think you should scale up the lighting. The drawing looks a bit dark (it's not an issue of the drawing, rather of photographing/scanning).
