Contest entry for Also you live in a house with a yard so yeah.

'God it's so hot'

'(y/n) we're inside. And the air conditioning is on.' Of course the lovable Mako-chan had to be the one to burst your self-centered bubble.

'I knooow but it's hot outside and just thinking about it makes me hot.' You complain from your position on the couch where you were sprawled out to maximize the area of your skin getting hit by the cold flow of air streaming from the vent above you.

'How about we actually go outside and then you can tell me how hot you are.' He says, not even looking up from the text message he is sending from a chair across the room.

'That's the opposite of what I want.' You pout, stretching your arms out so that they wouldn't cause unnecessary heat by touching your body.

'I know. But you really do need to get up and do something. All you've done since summer break began is lay on the couch, watch tv, and moan about the heat.' He says matter of factly, as if that would compel you to leave your spot.

'But you love me anyways.' You reply, bringing out your best puppy-dog eyes in the hopes that he will let you off the hook.

'I do still love you, but today is the day we do something. I know, how about we set up that sprinkler you mentioned awhile back.' He suggests, shooting down your chances of staying inside.

Although you really didn't want to venture into the sweltering heat of the outdoors, the thought of icy water and seeing your gorgeous boyfriend in a swimsuit was rather compelling.

'Hmm I'll consider it on one condition. You take me to get ice cream after.' You answer back, supposing it to be a good compromise.

'Deal.' He replies, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth as he gets up to tug you off the couch. 'Now let's go get our swimsuits on.'

Clearly he had planned for something like this to happen because as you headed to you room to get your bathing suit, he conveniently grabbed his out of the backpack he had brought over to your house. After a few minutes the two of you reemerged into your main room suited up and ready to get the sprinkler party started. You did have to take a moment to check Makoto out in his swimsuit because if there was one thing you never got over about him it was the fact that he looked real good in a swimsuit.

Together the two of you headed out to your yard, grabbing the sprinkler and the hose along the way and after a few minutes of trial and error you finally got it working.

'Ok (y/n) it's all ready to go. Go on and run through it so that you can finally stop complaining about the heat.' He says with a laugh, motioning to the sprinkler sweeping back and forth in front of you.

Hesitantly you creep towards the sprinkler, a few stray droplets of water hitting your skin causing you to yelp in surprise at just how cold they were. Quickly you make your retreat out of the splash zone only to find Makoto laughing at you.

'What?!? What are you laughing at me for?' You question, your head tilting to the side as you shoot a glare at your boyfriend.

'Nothing. It's just that you were complaining that it's too hot and you won't go through the sprinkler because it's too cold.' He replies as his laughter dies down.

'I'll go through it just you watch.' You say determinedly, turning back to face the wall of water. Gathering your courage you take a deep breath and take off running into the sprinkler, letting out what could only be classified as a shriek as the cold water made contact with your body. As soon as you make it through you raise both arms in triumph, a proud smile gracing your face as Makoto claps for you.

'See I told you I could do it.' You say as you approach your boyfriend, a sly look on your face.

'I never doubted you. Don't you feel cooler now?' He says, eyeing you suspiciously as you come closer.

'Yeah I definitely do.' You agree 'I think it's your turn!'

Suddenly you rush up to him and push him directly into the spray of water, causing him to let out a yell of surprise before he manages to wrap his arms around your waist and pull you in with him. The two of you burst out laughing as you play in the water, the liquid delightfully cooling off your hot skin.

Your fun continues for hours as you mess around, racing each other, making up games, splashing around and such. After a while you both end up soaking wet, exhausted and mildly sunburned. Yet extremely happy.

'Hey Mako, I'm super tired so I think I'm done, what about you?' You ask as you try to catch your breath after your most recent race.

'Yeah me too' He responds, running his hand through his dripping hair to push it out of his eyes.

'Ice cream time?' You suggest hopefully as you go to turn off the sprinkler and grab some towels that you had set out beforehand.

'I did make a promise.' He says taking a towel from you to dry off with.

'You have to put a shirt on first though. I don't want anyone stealing my boyfriend.' You tease with a smile.

'Same goes for you. I don't want anyone stealing my girlfriend.' He mimics as the two of you head inside.

After throwing on some clothes, the two of you head out to make the short trek to the corner store where delicious frozen treats await you. Once you arrive you make your purchases, a chocolate Popsicle for Makoto and a (fav flavor) one for you. You take your treats outside and decide to sit on the curb and people watch as you enjoy them. The cold ice cream helps to keep you from complaining about the sun as it shines down on you with it's hot rays.

'So how do you feel now about being outside where it is ~so~ hot?' Makoto asks you between licks.

'I guess it's alright.' You reply nonchalantly with a shrug.

'Just alright? But you got to spend the whole day with me.' He says with feigned hurt.

'I guess I can bump it up to pretty good then.' Is your response, but in truth it was absolutely perfect and you would endure the dreaded heat all over again if it meant spending time with Makoto.
