Update 2017: I am seriously getting tired of seeing this being faved on my update feed. Sure, it is cool and all, but the process of making a Geth playable, is easier than existing. I dont see why it deserve so damn much attention.It has, as of this writing, over 32 thousand views, over 200 comments and about 250 faves tops at this point. Its not original art, it is simply a screenshot of my playtrough i made in 2009 using a .ini file tweek i found on a website. Playing as Geth is alot more tricker and painful than it sounds, trust me, its not worth it. The movement system is clunky at best and when you are in combat, you are only able to walk, and ooutside of combat, its completely glitched.
You might wonder, why even keep this if you are so anoyed? Well it is thanks to this submission that made me and a friend of mine, to meet one day, ause he found it and found me (I really miss him alot). So i basicly keep this submission.
I will disable comments on this one, but i sadly (and luckly for you) cannot disable faving, atleast not from waht im seeing.
I would have been happy if my original work did had this much attention, but since this one is not, i feel more ashamed and angry. You may fave this if you so damn please, but i prefere that you dont.

That paticular one, i sadly dont know of. and beside, even if i did, the problem would be that you cant draw your weapons at all. Those NPCs that only exist in cutscenes (such as Nilus), cant draw their weapons.
Those NPCs who can however draw their weapons, woludnt be a problem to play as.

Just wanted to make note of something. I figured out a way to change my voice to sound like a geth. It would be cool to find a way to replace sound files, or something, so in the cutscenes you could actually speak like that: picosong.com/eRB4

It certainly sounds cool. If i had the tools for it, i could have done so. But as you maybe havent noticed, i havent played Mass Effect 1 for like, forever. But i might go back to it, somehow.

Of course it's not Legion. I dont see any N7 logo or N7 armor plating on its right arm.

those are alot more complex than ME1. I have tried playing as Legion, but you need to constantly to tinker with the game to make it stable, and its NOT worth the effort.

you do? Now im suprised. By all the numbers or console gamers that wants ''legion'' into their ME2 (when this is a Geth Shock Trooper from ME1), i thoguht that anotehr one appeared.
This character ofcorse, is not the only one you can play as. Saren is also playable, Quarian, Turian, Asari and more. The Geths are hard to controll due to missing animations, so controlling a Geth Shepard takes time to master.
Nilus cant draw his weapon since he is only made for cinematics, and VI characters cant use weapons either.
Playing as Turian and Quarian can make your shepard use alien armor, such as Quarian Shepard can use Quarian armor, Turian with Turian armor etc etc.
I havent tried out Krogan Shepard yet, but it might work.
So if you want help to play as a alien shepard, just say the word ; )

I just want to know where you found the character files, I found the ones for my squad mates, but that's it lol. And by files I mean the yaddayaadayaada.human_etc text

the thing you need to modify is the biogame.ini file, wich is found in your documents/bioware/mass effect/config folder.
There are 2 different model codes in that ini file, 1 male and 1 female. I have a text fire with all the model codes, but i wont send it here, i give you a note when i get time.

the difference in ME1 and ME2 si that the models are handles differently. Iit would be more sense if you posed the model code tutorial of ME2 in the ME2 screenshot (wich can be found in my gallery too as My Mass Effect 2 Character). I pardon if it made you felt angry somehow, but instead of creating an endless war. How about we post that model code tutorial in the My Mass Effect 2 Character pci, wich would not be as missleading (since this screenshot is from ME1)

No, i am a Geth Shock Trooper, the ones ho can create portable shields as a cover. Legion only exist on Mass Effect 2, this is Mass Effect 1. This is waht i call Model Hack btw, on The PC.

if you happen to have the PC Version of Mass Effect, even you can play as a Geth, a Quarian, A Turian and more! its alot more fun, since not only has the Quarian and The Turian therir Armor items that you can buy in stores, but they also have their animations intact, the Geth trooper and Geth Shock Trooper starts with a Geth Pulse Rifle that level up with the character, and so much more.
Playing as Saren is also awesome

Yeah, but there is 0% chance to make a model hack as i did for Mass Effect 1. I managed to do a model hack in Mass Effect 2, but it required a constant tinkering with the game file while playing to keep it stable, it was not even worth the job.

that sucks. i wish that Mass Effect and Dragon Age had a theater mode like Halo does so you can take screen shots and get them onto your computer. really want to show my friends my version of Hawke and Shepard but i dont want them over my place to show them.

That is what is so great with PC games, you have something called Print Screen, wich is a key button that dumps the last played frame on the computer screen so you can paste it into your favorite image program and save the image in any format.
