I see what you are saying. Below is what I think on the subject.
I feel that were all born as good people, but that "the world" keeps corrupting us a we go along. It's not death though, but this cage which we call "the world" of obligations and responsiblities, of work and money. It's a cage of our own creation, that we pretend it doesn't control us, and that we couldn't just walk out of. I feel jealous of the dead, for only they know true peace.
