Ha hah ... Thanks for your comment (I've not thought of it that way)!  How's your autumn over there, Keld?  We had a few high 80s in the past few days, but it just cooled down like what the season is supposed to be!  Always happy to hear from you!

Well, Autumn hasn't really started yet, but since Summer apparently was called off this year, it feels like Autumn has already been on for a long time. Anyway, I'm looking forward to a (hopefully) beautiful and colourful October to compensate for that

Oh, I didn't realize Summer skipped Danmark too this year!  I was taking the opportunity of a very cool summer to work on the garden after years of neglect!  Hopefully I'll enjoy the garden more next year!

Judged by your photos, your garden already looks quite beautiful. And not all weed is bad. I like to have a neglected (read: wild) corner myself. That's where I take most of my flower photos. Besides it's interesting to see which new species that will show up each year

As a matter of fact, my neglected garden was taken over by some invasive species, which have wiped out all the other varieties of plants.  I pretty much have to start from scratch and eliminate those super aggressive plants first before planting anything new!

Oh, that sounds really bad, Cecily. I have tried that myself and it took a couple of years to get it all back on track. Hope you got rid of most of it already this year.

Yeah, I spent the whole summer digging out all the roots of the entire flower bed! I'm sure I'll see some of them springing back to life next year.  You're probably right that it'll take a couple of years to get back on track!

It's just like with terrorists, Cecily. There are 'good' ones (wildflowers) and 'bad' ones (invasive species). Just make sure to support the right ones

I know what you are implying!  In the US, we are having all sorts of terrorists attacks - the white supremacists, the domestic abusers ... and they all own many firearms! I would have dug out all these domestic terrorists if I could, unfortunately, we, the ordinary citizens, have no control over the corporate-owned government!

No, you didn't quite get my point, Cecily, because it was a wrong analogy. In my view there are no 'good terrorists' (at least according to the official definition of terrorism), but you can distinguish between good and bad weed in your garden. What I meant to say was just; keep a keen eye on the bad (invasive) ones and nurture the good (non-invasive) ones

Sorry to confuse you, but I do agree with what you said nonetheless

It's true there are no 'good terrorists', because of the nature of violence, but humans are not different than plants, and there are no good or bad weeds either.  The invasive plants I'm dealing with would have been lovely garden flower plants (Lily of the Vally and Yellow Primrose), should I have been controlling their growth regularly; but I didn't have the heart to kill some of them until it has gotten all out of control. Sometimes people resort to violence out of survival, sometimes people preemptively strike out of fear of the threat to their beliefs.  It's all about competing for the future.  We are all programmed to extend our species (tribes), aren't we?

I agree, Cecily, but that's also what I find fascinating by having a garden. Nature sets the rules, but if you play along and maintain a certain level of control, you can form your garden almost in any way you want. When I got my little piece of land back in 1995, there was nothing except for grass and a hedge all the way around (easy to maintain). Over time I've gotten a few plants from friends and neighbours, but the big change came when I didn't have enough time for the garden and invasive weeds started to take over. After a couple of years' hard work I was back in control, but I left a corner to grow wild by itself and that has been a constant inspiration for me ever since. I still have to keep a keen eye out for Bishop's Weed, Nettles and a few other 'bad' ones, but the rest is what I call 'good weeds' or wildflowers because I can largely control how they grow.

Anyway, you will be back in control again Cecily and I'm looking forward to see more beautiful pictures of your flowers and plants in the future. Btw, I didn't know Lily of the Valley was an invasive plant, although I've seen large areas covered by them in our local forest
