Wow, that is so awesome. I can see that thing in a movie. It seems so bleak and depressing, this image creates a whole bunch of ideas in my head.
The combination of the glorified cross and the bleak landscape leads me to believe something went horribly wrong with christianity. Your notion of an "artificial God" seems like it would be man-made, like man enslaved by its own religion, which is a powerful statement in it's own right.
