Description Holy SHIT, this took me like ages, okay probably not that long but it felt like it

First things first:
pose came from Great stock images go check them out if you want to draw something
all textures come from cgtextures.com, all of them are heavily overpainted
Big probs go to who gave me crutial critique and advice on how to fix some problams i had early in the development of the drawing, check him out, he deserves it !

Edit: because this has to be here !
A big thanks goes out to who took the time and wrote an awesome critique for me, thanks a lot ! And to anyone reading this, check his gallery out if you like my stuff you probably gonna like his too

Now to the image:
I started this some weeks ago when i felt really really down and the original folder name was "something awesome", naturally i started drawing a woman and started looking threw the galleries of the various stock artists i'm watching and settled for this one:
imperialstarletstock.deviantar…
From there on out one thing let to another and i really have no clue what i should be writing now, since the image went threw many many iterations. I got 17 images of work in progress stages sicne i like to see the progress i made after some hours of drawing.
Actually if you are really intrested in the process of how the image was created, I recoreded every drawing session on twitch. and they are saved there so yeah brace yourself, 4 pages of videos all 1-2 hours long :/

This looks great and I especially love her face! But somehow the Tyranid seems to be unfinished, I'm aware that it should be unpolished to underline the distance, but somehow the sheer mass and gravity of this beast isn't delivered as most likely wanted.

But don't get me wrong I still really love it and it really looks awesome and quite professional here and there!

Wow, this is a really amazing piece! The textures of her collars, both cloth and fur are great, the overall details as well! The glow from the sword gives it something special, a sign of hope in the dark time of an Tyranic invasion.

The shoulderpads look different, the angles along the end especially, could be the perspective, but I doubt it, her right side looks like pointing upwards, the left faces downwards.
The major turn-off, which is purely personal, is the sword, why Asian styled?
I hope the two points weren't too hard or unfair.

Not at all and any critique is gladly welcomed, as a matter of fact even requested on this drawing

The reason I decided on a katana are multiple.
First and foremost I wanted her to have some asian elements because i wanted to draw something that went against the 40k norm. But i also considered that the sisters of battles are not space marines and are not augmented (afaik) a huge bearly sword would have broken the image i wanted to create a lighter more "agile" weapon like a katana made more sense to me
In addition, I wanted her to pull the sword out of the sheath, with a katana this results in a curved movment, which just looks better for the overall composition of the image.

Hope this shed some light on the design decisions

Sisters of Battle aren't augmented, that's correct, they don't have the Black Carapace, so they can't use their power armor to the full extend like Space Marines.
Mhm, okay, good points for the Katana. ^^

the facial expression took me the longest and was a huge pain, the way it is now is mostly due to the great input i got from check out his gallery!

This is really awesome! The lighting and the atmosphere used here are stunning, and I can't find any flaws in either character. You've given us an epic showdown between xenos monster and heroine of the Imperium. Thanks for putting so much time into this. The result is beautiful.
