I think he might be fake only in the demo. I'm not sure cause I've heard lots of people say its real, and some say its not.
Either way, I never had the balls to check. If I ever saw/heard one, id run somewhere safe with a door and hide for a good 2-5 minutes.

Well my friend, as I experienced it I'll tell you:
He's fake in the demo, I ran to him and he poofed.
I thought the actual game would be same but, teehee, nope. Funniest yet scariest part in my whole gameplay!
