Firefly, the predecessor to Rainbow Dash. This is a rework of an old doodle of RD that I transformed back into Firefly. When doing my research I found out her toy's cutie mark was actually glittery, so I added that texture here.This is the original image:

Gosh I haven't seen this pony in forever.
Personally, I liked the way they looked better back then. Friendship is magic is just a bit too 'cute' for me.

I don't think Firefly has much to do with Rainbow Dash personally ...aside from both being winged. Many ponies had similar markings, but regardless I love this! So much G4 everywhere often the first and original gets lost in translation. Very nice! Are you a 80's child btw? I was. Got a photo of myself when I was 10 surrounded by all my ponies from 1986 *lol* Can't say I've changed all that much.

I know the comment is pretty old, but; Lauren Faust has confirmed that the inspiration for MLP:FiM Rainbow Dash's personality and over-all character was indeed Firefly.

She's a daredevil; she tried to do an inside out loop; kinda similar to how Rainbow does her Sonic Rainboom.

Am I the only one who thinks Firefly must be some kind of blessed to be able to literally go to another world and snatch the first person she sees and wind up bringing the savior of her people.Β I mean she went for help against monsters and brought a farm girl and it worked out.Β (Not to mention the way she picked up Megan seemed one step away from kidnapping.)
