Description In the moment before her death, so many thoughts swirled around in the girl's head.
She was falling, and when she hit the road she would no longer exist. Had she made the right choice?
Painful memories of her childhood came to mind. Her parents, screaming and throwing things at each other. A glass bottle breaking, wine spilling all over the floor. The terrible arguments. The split up. The divorce.
She was so young at that time, but she remembered those small, hurtful things. The unsteadiness of living at her mother, then at her father, then back again. She wanted a common ground, but it was never granted her.
One memory flashed before the her eyes one last time. She had fallen, and scraped her knee. She was crying, but her father took her in his comforting arms. He patched her up, then took her out for ice cream, just so she'd feel better. That small gesture had meant so much to her.
Then the mean kids in her school haunted her mind, even in this final moment. Their nasty remarks, giggling behind her back, pointing at her clothes, her hair, her shoes. Never in a good way. It had torn at her soul, those comments.
As an adolescent child she had been quiet. If she made herself invisible, then no one could see her. No boy could ever give her attention, never hurt her. At least, that was what she thought. One guy had broken past the barrier and she had fallen in love. But he had lied, and cheated, and her heart was broken. So she decided never to love again.
And she didn't. As she fell, her heart was still closed shut, with chains and locks on a massive titan door. It would never ever open again.
Still, that brief bliss before she was betrayed had been pure happiness. How much was that worth, she wondered. It hadn't lasted long. Shortly after she picked up the pieces of her pounding machine, the depression had sneaked up on her, and she would never pull through. It had seeped into her very bones, making it difficult for her to move. To speak grew hard. It was like her life force had shut down and she wasn't herself. Then again, who was she, even without the depression? She would never know, but that was all right. The other side must be better than this. Or perhaps it is just the end of it all. That, too, would be all right.
The girl fell and hit the ground hard. In the moment that her skull cracked, she finally made up her mind.
She had made the right choice.
