mostly just crap doodles done at work, simply colored in Photoshop for more practice.Ended up being just 9 and 7. While I do love these two as a pair, 7 has really solidified herself as my second favorite character from the film. Not just because she's cute with 9, but because she is a genuinely well-written female, feminine, and tough character.
Trying to post the crud stuff so I can post the good stuff.

Oi!!! More "9" doodles! I love it! Before I get into it, I just want say, yes I completely agree about 7. What I always a liked her is that she's warrior of the group without really falling into the same "Strong Independent Woman, Who Don't Need No Man" which is a trope onto itself. She's tough but doesn't brag about it. She cares deeply about the ones she looks after and doesn't care what their gender is. (Though technically they don't actually have a defying gender.) And finally she's not with 9 because she needs to be, she's with him because she wants to be.
Welp, like with all your "9" Doodles, I have to point out my favorites.
-9 in his cloak. I like the fact you made the pin look more like from Lord Of The Rings as appose to mine which is a piece of felt cut in to the shape of a leaf with to beads stinking out. Though I wonder how was able to fine a pin that small enough.
-9's pose while he pouts. Whats buying him?
-9 holding 7, always A plus.
-9 and 7 embracing. They seem hurt here.

OMG Okay so like I've been analyzing different characters as I work to better my writing - 7 ended up being one of them as I study well-written female characters. And she really, truly is. All of the points you've made I completely agree with. She's allowed to have feminine traits, she's elegant and dignified, she is kind and is allowed to be empathetic. Too many "tough girl" characters are made to be too tough. 7 values her friendships and the balance within her is so written in such a way that she obviously has an emotional shield, but gradually lowers it (thanks in part to 9).
And you hit the nail on the head there. She's with 9 because she loves him. In the film itself you can clearly tell they become close quite quickly. 7 begs him to not sacrifice himself, but he's willing to to keep her (and by extension the others) safe. She is sad when she thinks he's killed. She doesn't get angry at 9 when he saves her life ("I was doing just fine by myself, y'know," or "I don't need saving. Leave me alone.") she thanks him, quite sweetly. And that balance goes for a well-written woman character.
As for le doodles, this isn't the best of the bunch, but I figured I'd get it up here. I was thinking about perhaps writing a fic the explains where 9 got the pins for his and 5's cloaks. I thought they'd be earrings 9 found and made them into the broaches (I have the Eleven broaches you see in LotR as a necklace, pin, and earrings).
And you could say he's got some happy feet.
