I'm recently addicted to a kid's series, Storm Hawks, despite it being too convenient (then again, which under-12 kiddie show would allow characters to spill blood and get hurt too badly). To be honest, I am in love with the pilot of their ship - he has proven himself competent and reliable although he's a ridiculously depressing paranoid hypochondriac. Plus, I absolutely love his pessimistic/sarcastic one-liners.This is my quick rendition of our favourite Merb, Stork... when some years have bulked and hardened him, that is.
(I'm aware that the anatomy is a wee off, and I did it with no reference; thus, his tiny ears which should be longer T_T)

Given the amount of character development Stork shows throughout the series - most of it subtle, in the background, but very striking if you're watching for it - it's very plausible that years down the road he'll be a total badass. I know that after 'Payback' he never quite seemed the same - he was angry and assertive throughout 'The Key', blitzed the Talons in his new ship in 'Cyclonia Rising' (provoked by nothing more than a scratch on the hull), and took being captured remarkably well, for him - not to mention his reaction to a Nightcrawler on the ship! (He actually held off screaming along with Finn until AFTER his attempt to attack it failed.) Unfortunately, that was so near the end of the series that we didn't really get to see much of how he'd changed. But it seemed like some of the crippling fear that had always haunted him had been stripped away. He's always had a backbone somewhere, he just wasn't always able to show it. I don't think Stork is a coward so much as a very repressed, possibly traumatized individual - he often seems as though he wants to help or to fight back, but doesn't dare. Later on, he started to dare, and DAMN it was awesome.
Lol anyway, pardon my rambling. I like the pic. Yeah, the ears are off and he's a bit too bulky about the ankles - I think part of his lankiness is natural, not something he's likely to grow out of - but the overall look is weathered and matured, very serious, and totally not someone you'd want to mess with. Win.

Yus~ I love SH, and I love how many fans make neat future-version designs of the characters. I like this spin you put on your dear pilot, even though his ears are wrong.

Ah, I've heard of Storm Hawks and have seen a few shorts of it in YouTube. Seems to me that Stork is THE most popular character to love among us fangirls despite the fact that he's not entirely a main character

That might've been true in the first season, but apparently Nerd Corps realized what an exponentially huge fanbase Stork had and now he always plays a really big part in episodes, if he's not the main focus. XD;

You know, I always pictured them having a "future" episode where one of the Hawks (preferably, Piper) gets transported to the future to find the terras have been taken over by Cyclonia and the Storm Hawks had long disbanded. Stork's the first one she meets and he's become sort of a renegade for the resistance, much to her surprise:
STORK: What? You think I never learned a thing or two watching you guys fight the Talons?

I think so too. I'm just afraid that if they ever did do a future episode, they'd have Stork stay "in character" and make him a crazy recluse. I just don't want to see that for Storky...
You know, there was an episode of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (the new series) called "Same as it never was." Donatello goes to the future and finds it run over by Shredder. He meets Mikey, who lost an arm and is super serious. Hell, if they can make Mikey more adult and rebellious, why not Stork?
