Actually, I think that could be difficult question. By siding with the slaves (most of which have super-herpes-shit), it is unsure whether or not they will reach a cure, their equipment is also very rusty as is seen. I chose to side with the slaves anyway though, I felt it was unfair on them, and that it would be better for them to live a short, free, and happy life rather than a longer, more tiring, and unhappy one. Even a worm would fight against the foot that crushes it.
