A Dyson Swarm is when a civilization builds many thousands of rotating habitats that run on solar power. Eventually this swarm becomes so numerous that it ends up sucking up the entire output of a star.

The Dyson Sphere is actually structurally impossible as near as we can tell. A Dyson Swarm would be comparatively simple, easy, and could be built using mostly off the shelf technology.
