Indeed they are! King Sombra's lackeys want the Elements of Harmony so they can give them to King Sombra and he can rule Equestria!
However, after they capture and tie up Daring Do, King Sombra's lackeys open the box...and the Elements of Harmony, determined to wipe out their evil from Equestria, melts all of their faces off!
After that, the Elements return to the box, the box closes, and the box is stored in Celestia's palace.
