FUN FACT: For the past two years I've been on DA I've never uploaded my own drawing of my dragonsona until nowI always commissioned/art traded/requested/etc other people to draw her. You should know why of course and this is exactly why. It's always embarrassing to see people draw your own characters better than you ever could, but i needed to upload at least one deviation of her on my own ,so enjoy my poor man's version of Aura.Β Argh! The anatomy looks just plain wrong and the wings make me want to puke my own eyes out.

First of all, I agree that mouse drawing is incredibly difficult. I was a mouse artist for about a year, it's totally a pain, especially linearts. However, you can make your life easier:
- try drawing the work traditionally first, scan/make a photo of it and use it as sketch - it's really easier than to draw everything from nothing with a mouse;
- there must be a pen tool which allows you to make straight and curvy lines if your own become wibbly-wobbly; I advice you to ask Flay or someone else who uses SAI as I work only in Photoshop, but such a tool exists in many drawing programs.
At least you did not use a base, which is considered a brave decision. You try drawing on your own and don't use bases, that's good

I just want to say that you have a lovely dragonsona (unless I'm mistaken and she's not your sona aahh ;n; )
But she has such a nice design, sweet and simple. I like it!
Also I think you have a lot of potential! C:
First of all, drawing with a mouse is difficult, I feel you on that one.
But really, this isn't bad at all! With practice and determination I'm sure you'll improve in no time! You already seem to have a fair understanding of basic anatomy, and while some things mayΒ need a bit of work, you have most of theΒ proportions down no problem!
If you'd like, I would be more than happy to give you a few links to some very useful tutorials. C:
But don't give up, you can do it! ^^ Getting better just takes practice!

I've only been drawing with a mouse for two years but I'm not really getting any better. Even though I use tutorials and such I don't think I'm getting any better. I think it's because I've reached my limit. But thank you though

But your dragon's wing is anatomically incorrect.
And your tail on the dragon is very wobbly, it's supposed to be a consistent curve.
Maybe you should learn how to draw wings and things like that.
Other than that, it's very nice.

I wanted to draw them my own way, but that obviously isn't working so i'm going to copy the tutorial next time.

Yeah,they are pretty hard to draw.
You have to fit 4-5 fingers in one circle(if you are using structure circles, those help great).

If you don't draw very well with a mouse, did you consider getting a Wacom Tablet ?
Or any sort of drawing tablet ?

Don't beat yourself up so much. The reason most people are so good is the drawing tablets. You don't suck are drawing using a mouse it's just the capabilities and quality of mouse drawn pictures are limited.

Yes it is. If you are good at drawing without a noise then it is probably difficult to draw with a mouse

Ok lemme do a critique!
So, first thing is that the neck is too straight and kinda too thin Β near the head.
The front leg is too straight too, and you can't see where the knee is, and it might be a bit too far away from the breasts/chest (i hope you know what i mean) but i might be wrong, not too sure.
You got the anatomy of the back leg right, but the calf/middle part thing is a bit too thin and the bone couldn't hold the weight of a dragon in my opinion.
The body might be too long or the legs are just a bit too far away, but this is another thing that i'm not 100% sure about.
Yea the wings need a lot of work...Β
But! The parts that are good!
I love the paws, you did a really lovely job with them ^^
Also the head looks really good, but shouldn't she have a nostril or something?
You did the eye really well, and the head overall is looking really good and shows that you have the potential to get better ^^

Thank you for the critique. At the very least you were quite honest with it. Yeah i know it's pretty horrible. I think this the the last time i'm going to draw dragons though. I just don't feel like going on with it anymore.

Like I told you when I redlined this, you're starting out much better than I did. Β I'd suggest practicing on paper instead of a mouse. Β It might seem harder, but it turns out to be much easier. Β If someone told me to draw using a mouse, I'd just be like 'wut'. Β You need to trust me on this. Β I really think you have some hidden potential, so don't be embarrassed to try. Β

I'm going to try and draw a dragon on paper and show you why exactly I don't do that sort of thing anymore.
I guess it's something I gotta show not tell because I'm telling you right now that I'm horrible with hand tools. Not that it really matters because it sucks either way.
