Description Edit:I NEVER SAID IN HERE THAT ANIME IS NOT ART, PLEASE STOP SPAMMING MY FRONT PAGE AND SENDING ME NOTES, ALL YOU'RE DOING IS MAKING YOURSELF LOOK LIKE A DUMB ASS BECAUSE I LAUGH AND CLICK THE X BUTTON EVERY TIME I SEE ONE, YOU ARE NOT EFFECTING ME WHAT SO EVER SO GIVE IT UP.

Read the description before you comment and make yourself look stupid.

Comments now enabled because I'm sick of my page being spammed with comments I could care less to read, realize that you posting a comment here does not mean I will read it or respond, I will likely not do either of the two.

Ok before you read this or flame me remember that this is MY OWN opinion and I am not in anyway trying to change yours.

I have NOTHING against anime at all, it is not my favorite but I do not hate it, in fact I do enjoy a few animes such as Wolf's Rain, Evangelion, Hellsing, Excel Saga, and a few more. HOWEVER I am SICK and TIRED of people saying "anime is the best!" "I love anime!" "look I can draw anime!" "anime is so original!" when no one is really saying bluntly that anime sucks and that it is not art. and then I go to the front page of DA and see nothing but huge eyed anime girls with balloon like breasts, nipples the size of salami slices, and slutty clothing with the letters "kya" sketched next to it. All these pieces look as if they were drawn by the same person. I am NOT at all saying anime is not a cool style, it is an awesome style if used properly.

You can look through my favorites and see many anime pictures by artists here on DA I enjoy. What bugs me is when people claim their anime has style opposed to any other anime. Anime is a vast area of art, they're cartoons. People who obsess over anime characters as if they were real need to get out more.

I think if more artist stopped looking at pictures of anime girls or whatever that other people drew and just basically tracing it, and began to develop their own style this place and the art community as a whole would be a lot better.

Also this does not by any means mean I enjoy dogs with huge ears, anime eyes, 'kawaii' features, hair, and the cartoon animal style a lot of people share. This stamp focuses on anime but it goes for all art that needs more stylizing.

Actually it's part of an art style called exaggeration art, where certain parts of the characters are exaggerated, in anime's case the eyes.

A lot of other cartoons use the same same style, Kids Next Door exaggerstes the hands and feet.

The only thing about this that kinda upsets me about this is the assumption everyone, even the comments, are making that Anime doesn't come with different styles within itself. You can look at multiple artists here or even different studios' animes and compare them. Each of them have their own style that they draw their characters in than others.

Take an anime like Bakemonogatori and Clannad. There's sooo many different features that come with both of those styles that helps you tell the difference between them.

There may be a sort of umbrella that's 'anime', like 'cartoony' and 'realism', but saying all anime looks the same and has 'the same big breasted girls' just really shows ignorance and hate towards it just because a few anime artists draw similarly to each other even though there are some out there who don't do these stereotypes.

It's still perfectly fine to hate anime, but it shouldn't stem from a narrow viewpoint.

I think the (kind of poor, tho I'm aware this is old) wording of this stamp is why there are so many people being bothersome about it, regardless of the description.

Anime is such a vast environment of different styles that have some certain things in common: some more than others. When people only obsess over one particular anime style, that's when I can get exasperated.

It's really dumb how people were so desperate to attack you about your opinion though lol

I only draw in the style of anime because it seems easier. Also , until i find a style of my own. It kind of helps me practice , to be honest.

Well you're never going to improve if you only stick with easy.

You have to challenge yourself in order to get better as an artist.

timewap1.deviantart.com/art/dr…

Look at this for example.

See how much improvement this artist made over that gremlin style?

That could be you!

For me Anime is a style, same as western style.
I prefer Anime because it allows me to put more
expression's into my characters rather then
other styles.

In the end it's the artist that will dictate how their
style will be, sure it may be anime like mine, but
as long as it shine's in the direction the artist wants,
I see no harm done.

//late to the party as always

I think that anime can portray expression fine. i agree that it's over used but it can look great if it's used properly. however, i can see why many people may not like anime. it may just not be someone's cup of tea.

"lowest form of art possible"

//sigh

i dont know how much anime that timewap1 has seen, but i can agree that there is anime that show expression terribly. but there are many that show some really heart-wrenching scenes because of the use of expression and voice acting.

in regards to the actual art style, i think the same. you can really show emotion and expression in anime as well as any other style.

i do not agree with anyone who puts down another art style because apparently there are kids who can draw better.

while it may be true that kids can draw "better", i think that art is about what the artist wants to draw, and it makes me sick how people are putting it down because it's overused or they dont like the expression. get over it. it's their art not yours. you may have an opinion on this that may be different to mine, which is fine, but im just saying what i think.

Thanks for your input. Sorry for the lateness as well.
I love anime style of art, to me the eyes is what I love
along with the facial expressions, I find them lively.

Indeed in the end it's up to the artists to vision what he / she wants
that art to look like as well. People that put down other artists are just
bullies always wanting to cause drama, I have learned not to pay any attention
to them.

Expression?

Have you seen anime faces?
They look like dead eye marionettes.
Whatever natural expression a human could have is sucked out of those characters. Even their exaggerations are bland.

PhantomMasterRamos89 In reply to Timewap1 [2016-03-13 15:11:55 +0000 UTC]

Well we agree to disagree, for me I think the
other way around, and just because one draws
in the style of anime does not mean that it's
automatically bad, to me people do put a lot of
hard work in anime and in cartoon art that don't
get respect due to not being realistic western art.

You know you come across as someone
that is arrogant, you need to understand
that different people have styles that represent
who they are be it anime, western, cartoon.

Just because you don't like a particular does
not mean you put people down, or criticize
their style.

Timewap1 In reply to PhantomMasterRamos89 [2016-03-13 17:56:01 +0000 UTC]

Hey I understand there are different styles...

But much like a kid's drawing, I don't consider anime anything than the lowest form of art possible. And those kids drawings are way above that.

Haidenisa In reply to Timewap1 [2016-03-19 22:29:36 +0000 UTC]

Actually, anime just refers to Japanese animation, it could be any style of art.
Everyone is thinking of the stereotypical view of anime, being characters with big eyes and crazy colorful hair.
Any animation made in Japan can be considered "anime."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Timewap1 In reply to Haidenisa [2016-03-21 05:57:14 +0000 UTC]

No matter how you claim it, no one associates anime to just "any animation/art" from Japan.

If they didn't, they would be referenced under a different tittle.
