Description Shamolenes are ©CelfwrDderwydd.  My first Copyrighted creations!
A study of the Shamolenes.
As you can see, they have a very unusual body structure.  While they are descended from creatures that could be called "birdlike", Shamolenes are actually not avians, and have never had the ability to fly. The two feelers on top of the head are actually modified feathers, which gives them a much greater range of perception than humans have.
They give birth to live young, instead of laying eggs.  In terms of overall body structure, females are not much different from males, with the notable exception of their crest.  Since females guard and rear the young, this extra sensory input is vital, as it allows them to sense predators and other threats to chicks with greater ease.  It also makes them almost impossible to hide from in times of war.  Shamolene females are equally as strong as males, but far more aggressive and ferocious.
What looks like fur, is in fact, modified feathers, like that on Silkie chickens from Earth.
They are predominately predators, and are adapted to hunting in the rocky terrain of their homeworld; Shamolea.  Some have claws more like talons, but others have claws made for digging and clinging to rocks.
Shamolenes are  a very old and cultured race, and their empire is vast and grand.  Their culture is millions of years old, and one of the most colorful and impressive in space, yet they are also one of the most technologically-advanced races known.
As a result of this, some humans felt threatened when they first met, and, sadly, it led to tensions.

This is my first real character study, so I was flying a little blind here.  Hope this is something my readers enjoy.

Thanks.  I tried to keep to real science, and imagine how they evolved and such when designing them.  Not always easy, but fun.  I'm working on drawings of the other aliens in my universe as well.

Glad you like them.  I designed the Shamolenes to be realistic in terms of science and biology, but, at the same time, alien.  My pet chickens helped with getting the details right.

Especially my Silky chickens, upon whose furry feathers I based those of the Shamolenes.

I have read the "Astral Link" story and "the Golden Door" story and will soon read "Heart of the Hive" story.

Just for the mean time I would like to ask one question... What are the Relationships between the Shamolenes and the A.V.P. Universe?
I'm Talking about Xenomorph, Yautja, And the Mala'kak (Aliens, Predators, and the Space Jockeys.)

Hope you like the stories.

Now, to the question.

For my purposes, I treated the "Aliens" universe, "Predator" universe and "Alien VS. Predator" universe all as seperate universes and canon unto themselves.  This made it easier to write, since I could solely focus on Kyle and Sophie and the facts and canon of the "Aliens" universe.

That being said, I have thought on how the Yautja would have reacted to the Shamolenes.  I imagined that more than once, the Yautja found out the Shamolenes are very ingenius engineers and creators, who were more than capable of turning the tables and making the Hunters into the Hunted

As for their relationship to the Creators (Space Jockies/Mala'Kak), nobody is certain on that, not even the Shamolenes themselves.  The Shamolenes are a far older race than humans, and their culture and civilization is millions of years old.  Perhaps is was ANOTHER race that made the Shamolenes . . .

I thank you for your input. And yes...
I AM LOVING THE ASTRAL LINK STORIES!!!

Although I think you can easily have all three races in one universe.
A "Clan-Verse" If you will.

I Hate to ruin your story with disrespect, But I want to share my views in your story!
Tobais Morgan was trader with more connections than you think.

He got a wormhole star-map from a lone-ancient-drifter Space Jockey.
"I'm talking about the original trunk-nosed giants, Not the generic white men from Prometheus.
I do NOT like the new design.   The original is BEST." s620.photobucket.com/user/Bool…
He got the caravan to the the Milurian homeworld in no time. Only he knew of that drifter's existence.
THEN he convinced some influential female-Yautja matriarchs that there is allot of fun too have at his destination.
On one side of the Milurian home-world, Mercy's Caravan was doing the best
it can to save as many Milurians as possible.
On the other side of the planet, A large Vanguard of Predators was having the time of their life's
with hunting, slaying, and literally cutting The Fifth Reich down in half.
Being master hunters, the female predators hid all of their foot prints from the battlefield.
And then no one will be the wiser.

AGAIN. I mean no disrespect, I'm just rekindling my love for the A.V.P. Franchise, All of it!
Thank you and good night.

Maybe I went a bit off with the info, but I wanted to make sure I answered most questions at the first show, as they're very unusual.

That was intentional.  You see, I made them to look strange and intimidating, but also be very cultured and sensitive.  Take the example of Gur, who has gone out of his way to help protect Kyle and help him and Sophie, or the Shamolene mother who helped the lost human boy find his mother.  They, and many others in the story, are part of a message of not judging others.
The same is true of Kyle and Sophie, who have what ammounts to an interracial relationship.  Even in their time, there are still people who believe "stick to your own kind".
I guess it comes from living in such a racist state as I do that I decided to make my own little tale against bigotry.

I never said that you were, sir.  I merely said what I designed them for.
Sadly, where I live, I hear many racist, nasty remarks and words that wound be censored on TV, not the least of which is the "N-Word"
In fact, the character of Elizabeth in my story "The Child" is based in the only woman I ever fell in love with, her ethnicity included.
As much as being a story about Kyle and Sophie, my story is also my way of looking at society, what it is, and what it could be.
I have always remembered the stories that had a moral or inner message to them, over the ones that were just empty entertainment.
If my story makes at least one person smile and look at thw world a little different, than I think I've done well

Ahhhh.... someday you will find your true love never say never.

Kyle and Sophie world is something that we can dream of but it will never work and happen in the real world sadly.

I think a bit from a song I heard will answer best:
"Dream of a place that is far away,
Hold to that Dream and you're there to stay."

Always nice to have /actual/ pictures to go along with the mental ones, to help one visualize a new species.

One thing that confuses me, I though they were taller, yet the size comparison seems to suggest that they're about the same size as a human.

Partly, that's because I have a hard time with scale.  I can admit my shortcomings.  But, if you look carefully, you see that this is not the most upright pose.  Just as humans rarely stand straight, the same is true of Shamolenes.  This could be seen as a more restful posture.  Besides, if they were nine feet normally, they wouldn't be able to fit through most human doors, would they

I did indeed.  I tried to keep to real science, and design them as real beings that lived on a real world.  So, once they were designed, I put what I knew about evolution and biology to use designing the world that such a creature would have evolved on.  All the rest followed
