i dislike tutorials, 99% of tutorials are "this is how you draw what i draw, but not really" which forces people down copycatting rather than experimenting and finding their own style and way to draw.Β

Maybe so, but I have no idea how to make a brush with transparency mapped to a pallet If I can't even do that there is no way to experiment with it. I will try to experiment anyhow.

i pixel using the brush set to transparency then i use a gradient adjustment layer to manually map the colour pallete with hard transitions between the colours

Is that the same thing as, or just very similar to that Dan Fessler HD painting thing?
Looks like I might have to learn Photoshop someday, haha.

it's a bit different as it doesn't rely on posterizing, i also have a bit more pallete control
