Description

One confusing part of the Bible for us, as Christians, to understand is the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Holy Ghost. I can’t fully comprehend this, either, but I have been pondering it for a while and I believe that I finally am able to understand it in a less confusing way.

My mom was the first one to teach me the easiest way to remember the Holy Trinity- like H2O. There is water, ice, and steam- each is the same elemental compound, H2O, but in different forms. The Holy Trinity is just like this.

God the Father:

This is the way we see God, mostly- the part of God we look up to.

God the Son:

The physical form of God that walked the Earth- the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

God the Holy Spirit:

The part of God that dwells within us and helps us choose to do the right things

Okay, so now you understand that each of these parts of God is what makes God, well, God. But here’s the part not many people really understand: How can God be Jesus, if Jesus is his son?

Well, think about it- Jesus is God’s Son. Who else is a child of God? HUMAN BEINGS. We are children of Christ, correct? But then the word “son” is capitalized in Son of God. This being said, it’s basically saying, “Jesus is the human embodiment of God.” But then John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son so that whosoever believeth in Him should  not perish but have everlasting life.”

It says Jesus is His one and only begotten Son, or His one and only Son that had been, in the dictionary definition, “brought about.” This may seem to contradict what I said earlier, when it still doesn’t. Jesus is God’s one and only Son that was brought about- God’s one and only Son that was WITHOUT SIN. That is what it means.

In other parts of the Bible, Jesus is called the Son of Man.  The Son of Man- what could that mean? Jesus became the Son of Man whenever he died on the cross- He took all of our sins onto the cross, thus dying as sin. He became sin, a thing that man bore. Now, just think about what I explained earlier about the Trinity. In other words, GOD came here for us. GOD died for us. GOD took every wrong thing that we did and made it to where we could have a personal relationship with Him. GOD sacrificed for us- GOD went through pain and suffering, trial, and became the one thing he was against. God did that all just for us. Isn’t that amazing?

If you aren't a Christian and wish to become one, please note me if you want ;3

Most analogies for the Trinity, like water, fall short of the actual reality. No one can fully understand the Trinity, but we can try to appreciate it.

It is not as though God is too complex for us, he is actually too SIMPLE for us to understand. We are complex beings, God is simple.

There is much theological and philosophical history into how the early Christian fathers developed the doctrine on the Trinity, which is very interesting to look into, but even they could not truly understand it...for it is the greatest mystery.

One issue I have with this article of yours is that it divides God into "parts". But God is "One"...he is simple...he has no parts. The Father IS GOD...The Son IS GOD...The Holy Spirit IS GOD! But there are three God's, but three persons (or hypostases) in the One God. This particular aspect of the Trinity was the most difficult for the Christian Father's to explain and develop. Christ said, "I and the Father are One" or homoousious was the term used by the early council of Nicaea in 325 AD.  This word means the father and the son are one and the same being or substance. And the same applies the holy spirit. Even I, off the top of my head, cannot tell you the whole as I learned it...so take what I say with a grain of salt...it isn't the be-all-end-all.

It is a very VERY VERY deep and long history of how this doctrine of the Trinity and the three persons was developed. It goes all the back to first century and even lasts to this day. At the Catholic college i went to, there was a whole course on the trinity and BOY was it so confusing and difficult at times with all the philosophical terms and reconciling it with theological truths. but if anything, it gave me a better appreciation of WHAT and WHO God is...What is He? He is GOD. Who is he? He is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit...Not a Unity and Division (for that is a contradiction), but a Unity in Diversity.

We will never understand it, but it is good to learn what we can.

I... really like the way you set it out I have learned a lot since writing this a while back (I have taken Baptist New and Old Testament courses, for example) I think when I wrote this a while back I was trying to explain how the three are one, but also trying to explain the definition of each term, kind of in a way that someone can be a "man of many hats" and explaining each "hat"
Considering your interpretation has Catholic influence and mine, Baptist, however, there are bound to be differences in interpretation, and this may be one of them. The important thing to know and have the same belief is in the fact that Jesus is God and He died on the cross for our sins, resurrecting three days later, conquering sin and death. Other parts may be open to interpretation, but that is the truth that must be known

Indeed...there is a truth. But finding it is not easy. And "my interpretation" isn't mine, but from the Church...just to clarify. I wouldn't dare interpret anything about God on my own without the guidance of His Church, but I understand you.

God bless you. Yes I am a Roman Catholic Christian! Glad to meet a fellow Christian.

Ah, Baptists believe the Bible is open to interpretation from each individual. Lo siento-I didn't mean to offend you when making the interpretation statement!
And same goes to you

I really like this drawing, and the message. I went through a rough patch not long ago and I've turned back to Christ.

I dont remember where i heard this, but supposedly bring lost or wandering is considered satanic? I dont know if it was true so i figured you were the best person to ask/ blurt it out at.

no- it is not true. If you are lost as in spiritually, then you don't have Christ and oyu will go to hell, yes, but you aren't satanic
