yes, the background is a stencil. I go to art school, and there just so happens to be a laser cutter readily available for student use. It costs one dollar for every 10 minutes the laser takes to cut. So each of the layers took 3 or 4 minutes, except for the background which took 40 minutes b/c it is a fairly large complicated pattern.

thanks man,
yeah, what you see is a scan of the print I made by overlapping five separate stencils. if you're really curious I can tell you how I cut the stencils.

Right on. I've made a couple stencils myself, but those have only been two layers. All I used was cardboard and a box cutter.
And I am quite curious how ya cut the stencil out.

well call me a cheater, but I used a laser cutter. I divided the image into 4 colors, then put each color in its own illustrator file, the laser did the rest from there. I'm happy with how accurate the laser can cut, alot more percise than the human hand, plus your hand doesn't hurt afterwards.
so I guess if you can get your hands on a laser cutter I would highly reccomend it.
keep up the good work with the stencils!

Cheater!
Just kidding. That's actually a really interesting way of gettin' it cut you. Sounds way easy. Especially on the hands. Mine are always dyin' after I cut a stencil out.
How did ya get a hold of a laser cutter? Or did you go to a shop or something? I'm just curious.
