Description I named it octagon due to the shape naturally

I took the picture inside a mall in HelsingΓΆr, Denmark. It's the ceiling taken from right below it, i was lucky to get the shot right in the middle (except for a few centimetres...)

*edit* This picture really deserves to be viewed in full size. I think all my pics does, but since some of you likes to watch the thumbnails only, i thought i'd add this, since iv'e got comments about people thinking this was a computer generated image, until they looked at the full picture - it really is a photo!!

I've got people asking me if it's really a real photo, or a computer generated picture.

Nice work. Like it.
It's really hard to find where is border between photo and software..

Do you mean that it is hard to see the difference between a photo like this and a computer generated picture, or how do you mean, i'm afraid i don't really understand.

This is a pure photo, the only thing done with it in the computer is the cropping and some 5% light adjustment. No colour changes or modifications other than that.

I meant something like it is too realistic to be generated image and at same time too unreal to be a photo.

A color corection have no influence to thins. I think the most influence for this efect is croping. Missing a outside elements gives you this efect.

CerebralCortex In reply to zbozic [2005-01-19 09:19:40 +0000 UTC]

Ah, i see Actually, the picture before cropping was all black all around, so i did not remove anything outside in this picture, in many other pics i have done that, but the ceiling became pitch black, just as you can see in the pic, becuase the glass part was so bright. So the only reason i cropped was to get the square form But i know what you mean.

Very cool. I first I thought this was a digital art piece untill I read the comments. I need to start looking up for pictures... hmm

Thanks. I hope some competition comes up here at dA where this picture can fit in, so i can show it of some more, because i'm really really pleased with it!!

I ususally look around me all the time when walking about with my camera. The best pictures is the ones that are everyday things but from a different angle, at least i think so (and of course, beautiful girls, but i don't get the chance to shoot many of those )

Check out [link] there are plenty of models looking for TFP's... there may be some in your area. And with great skills like yours, they would be crazy to say no!

Hmmm, i was over at that site. I don't know if i missed something, but i couldn't find anything about anything, other than registering and paying money, and if i don't have a chance to see what i get, i sure won't pay... You really think i could get someone to model for me, if i show my work? I'm just a amateur, and i don't have the funds to hire a model, so that is not an option...

Destiny423 In reply to CerebralCortex [2005-01-17 22:41:20 +0000 UTC]

Many models are just starting out and just need portfolio work done. So they are willing to do Trade For Photos (TFP) work. If you simply go to the website and click talent search, then click the models link. You can type in your preferences of model. I looked up models in Sweden just to get an idea and there were 6 pages (147 results, just women)! Give it a shot, it's worth a try to approach someone about it... it's good to gain the experience, you may find your excellent at it! Good Luck!

Amazing angle! How do you hold the camera that steady?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CerebralCortex In reply to gundamaster [2005-01-15 18:49:51 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I managed to get EXACTLY right below the pyrmid ceiling. I actually had to kind of hang over some plants that were in a giant pot in the center of that room. I just held the camera right up, no tripod or anyting. It helps alot that my camera (a fuji S7000) has got a very good grip and that i always use the viewfinder and not the lcd screen when i take pictures, and the fact that i grew up using a SLR camera and was taught how to best hold the camera to minimize shaking. If you look at this pic [link] you can see that it's taken with a shutter speed of 1/5 second, and that is also taken without a tripod or any support at all, and the camera has no anti shake thingy or so, so i guess i'm kind of good at holding the camera still.

CerebralCortex In reply to gundamaster [2005-01-17 01:08:17 +0000 UTC]

Wow, i don't think of myself as a master of anything, just a happy (well, maybe not so happy) amateur. Sure wish i had some more pro stuff, like studio lights and such, that would be nice

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

gundamaster In reply to CerebralCortex [2005-01-17 02:01:54 +0000 UTC]

I think the mark of a true pro is a great picture with nothing but a camera. Having all that fancy equipment takes away from the felling of having taken a picture the old, traditional way.

CerebralCortex In reply to gundamaster [2005-01-17 02:12:39 +0000 UTC]

Maybe you're right, but still, it would be fun to have a studio, so i could take nice portraits and such.

gundamaster In reply to CerebralCortex [2005-01-17 02:23:46 +0000 UTC]

Oh. If you are doing portraits, then all that equipment is a big help. (have i confused you yet...?)

CerebralCortex In reply to gundamaster [2005-01-17 02:26:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, i'm not confused, not more than everyday confusion anyway I haven't got a clue about what kind of equiptment that i would need, if it is any good to buy used stuff and how much such things are supposed to cost

I carry my camera around often too, but sometime it's just too bulky, and when i don't have it with me i usually see lots of things that i'd taken pics of if i had it with me... :-/ I wish i had one more camera, a small pocket friendly one...

My camera is very nice and pocketfriendly It's a digital P&S so it's not that large.. though it would be fun to have a real SLR too..
