Personality: Phantom is not a social, trusting mech. Around most, he is reserved, quiet, and distant. He does what he’s told, he finishes his job, then he gets out of everyone’s way and stays that way. But this is not what he’s really like. To see his true nature, you’d have to see him around a friend, or spy on him when he's alone. When he finally does find someone he trusts, he becomes a pleasant, generally cheerful, and easily flustered mech. He is willing to do anything for someone he trusts, even if it puts him in danger. Friendship is really something Phantom craves more than anything, but he has a hard time finding someone to trust due to his poor history of relationships.
But don't think that just because he's a sweet mech around those he cares for that he can't be tough as well. When it comes to battle, it's almost like Phantom runs separate programing. He is focused and sometimes excessively cruel, more so if someone he knows is under threat. He has a very strong urge to protect, even if it costs him. There is very little he is not willing to do for his friends, but it is nearly impossible to be ranked among his trusted few.

Reason for Joining: Originally, Phantom joined up after his brother disappeared. It was after the war had started, and Phantom and his brother Flashback were selling weapons to both factions. Phantom acted as the guard, training himself heavily in the art of snipering. One day, Flashback plain disappeared, and Phantom left Iacon to go find his parents. Unable to find them, Phantom ran into an old racing buddy who was joining the Decepticon side, and Phantom followed him. But, after loosing his best friend and being left on the battle field to die, Phantom’s romantic ideas of being Decepticon disappeared. He killed some of his comrades and stole a ship, serving as skilled bounty hunter for both sides. One mission, he found his old friend, and discovered he had betrayed the Decepticons and joined the Autobots; his betrayal was why the battle had turned south, and why Phantom had been left behind. The sniper quickly shot his old pal in the face, and decided to re-join the Decepticons, specifically to fight the Autobot slaggers who had caused his misery. When Autobots were later responsible for killing his best friend, his commitment to the Decepticons was strengthened.

Notable Quirks
Sniper
Phantom is an excellent sniper. He's had a lot of practice through the years, and it shows. He is, however, generally terrible at close-range combat, despite being able to collapse his sniper rifle into a rifle-sized weapon. Unless his opponent is really far away or really, really close, he probably won't hit them.
The sniper rifle itself is contained on the underside of his right arm, allowing him to use it as a hidden weapon in close combat. But, once again, it has to be really close combat.

Door Shields/Window Knives
The doors on Phantom's forearms serve as shields. The windows, when extended, are excellent at repelling fire, but only up to a certain point. They are highly effect, but only if Phantom is quick enough to utilize them.

The windows are also able to extent out on the inside of his arms, creating simple blades useful for close combat. While hardy enough to withstand blasts, they cannot withstand constant combat, and have been known to break from over-use.

Glitches
Phantom suffered a lot of damage in battle that was never properly repaired, mostly because he was the one having to do the repairs. The Decepticons have tried to fix all his minor glitches, but they are still noticeably present. While generally just small annoyances, there have been times where they've cause serious problems. Phantom also has a mediocre skill at medic work and repairs, due to his need to fix his own problems most of the time. This has also contributed to his general dislike of medics.

Femmes
If Phantom has one major weakness, it's to the femme models. He's always sweet on them, even if they don't return the affection, or are already involved. It is not, however, always a sexual attraction.

Relationships
Scatterfrost- When alive, he was Phantom's best friend. The Mercedes was will to do anything for the mech and trusted him completely. The loss of Scatter as a friend was rough on the sniper, but has taught him to rely on himself for strength, and not others.

Grey Noise- Phantom has come to see himself as something of a guardian for Grey Noise, whether the small mech wants him to be or not. Finding him both intriguing and easy to relate to, he keeps a careful optic trained on him in an attempt to keep him safe.

Skipbeat- Phantom sees Skip as a kind of little brother, and also a friend. He enjoys spending time with the smaller mech, though he silently disapproves of his interest in humans.

Blanche- As medics go, Phantom considers her an exception to his hatred of her kind, but the fact that she's a femme goes a long way in convincing him to like her.

Frigid- While she may be, technically, a part of Blanche, Phantom has come to see her as someone separate. Someone he is, in fact, more interested and protective of than her "host". While he may do his usual flustered flirting routine with Blanche, he's far more serious about it when it comes to Frigid. For the first time in a while, he's looking at their relationship as more than just playful. Or, he at least, he hopes it could be.

Soul Invictus- He is the main force behind Phantom's re entry into his darker side. The masochist mech has learned to anger Phantom to get a little punishment, and the taste of dominance and torture as helped re-spark the mech's more sadistic nature. While he often acts disgusted or annoyed by Soul's antics, he has grown a little fond of the mech.

Retrovirus- Another medic who has miraculously found his way into Phantom's good graces, Retro is on shaky ground with Phantom, but has a high potential to becoming a good friend for him.

Detailed History
This history is heavily effected by any roleplays I do with him, and is subject to lots of change and addition
Phantom's family was very well off, with his father holding an important office on Cybetron. But, desperate to escape his parent's stifling hold, Phantom left Iacon for Tarn, where his brother had an upgrade shop. Phantom helped his brother, but his spark lay in the underground races he partook in. His brother served him well, giving him free upgrades and repairs when he lost (which happened... a lot)
When war started to break out, Flashback began trying to profit off the unrest by offering repairs and supplies to both sides. He enlisted his brother to help him, setting him up with a sniper rifle and hiding him away to watch his back in case a deal went south. As things degraded faster, Phantom started spending less time racing, and more time practicing shooting until he flat out refused to put the gun down. But Flashback's double dealing caught up with him, because one day he simply just didn't come back to the shop. Phantom returned to Iacon to find this parents, but, being unable to locate them, he went to drown his sorrows in energon. At the bar, he ran into an old racing friend named Breakout. The two made a connection, and, with nothing else to do, Phantom followed his friend into the service of the Decepticons
The two formed a strong bond, spending most of their time together as they terrorized their fellow Decepticons. They were considered quite an effective duo, with Phantom being a crack shot, and Breakout serving as a guardian or distraction. Unfortunately, several stellar cycles later, Phantom found himself a little too close to the action, and was badly damaged. Breakout mysteriously disappeared in the ruckus, and the Mercedes was left by his fellow soldiers to offline.. Phantom dragged himself out of his ditch and found cover to eliminate a small number of 'cons hovering around a shuttle. Once inside he took off, cursing the Decepticons and gauging his own stomach plate in an attempt to remove their symbol. The shuttle remained his for the many, many stellar cycles he spent on his own, offering his skills to anyone willing to pay the fee. He became midly successful as a sort of bounty hunter; picking off the lesser Autobots and Decepticons the factions needed eliminated, but couldn't waste the cycles hunting for. On one of these hunting trips, Phantom stumbled across his best friend Breakout, who had been enjoying a successful career as an Autobot. The sniper shot him in the face, and left him to die. He would later learn that Breakout had betrayed the Decepticons the day he'd been left to die. He would also find that Breakout has survived his attack. This revelation convinced Phantom to rejoin the Decepticons, in the interest of punishing Breakout and the Autobots.
After joining the Decepticons, Phantom was given another reason to despise the Autobots. He struck up a friendship with a medic names Scatterfrost, who quickly became very important to the mech. He became the Mercedes's most trusted friend, someone he was willing to do absolutely anything for. But an excursion into a local town ended in a battle against Autobots, and a badly wounded Scatter. In a complicated set of events, Scatter was remade into the Decepticon Outloud who, though holding a good deal of Scatterfrost's memories, was not the mech himself. Scatter was, essentially, killed.

Nice! You've drawn him quite nicely! ^_^
Wish I could do that for Skipbeat.

And after reading through Phantom's profile, I really have to say I feel for him. >:
It sounds like he's been through way worse than Skipbeat, but he doesn't seem that bad of a mech. And I really liked his reason for joining, adds a lot to his character and motives. I hope he'll find peace for his suffering.

Hm... maybe I should add in Skip's history into his profile.

I like the picture you have for him, though :<

Ah, he has had a bit of a rough time, but he's doing better now. It helps he's finding some friends in the club XD.
I'm very glad to hear you think he's well developed in that He's been a year in the making, so I worry he doesn't make sense sometimes XD
I think you should! I always love seeing character histories; it can explain a lot about their motivations

Not me. XD

Aw... that's good.
A year? O_o
I've made Skip in less than a month, but I'm still making small changes here and there in his character. I sometime fear that when I write/portray him... it doesn't fit what his profile says.

And I did, I updated his profile again. XD

And I saw the drawing you had posted, too! That was good! :<

Y-yeah XD I'm very bad at designing their bipedal modes, soooooo... it takes me a while XD
mmm, you're not alone, Phantom changes too XD. I envy your month long creation process, though ><.
Ah, I worry about that too! I think everyone one does a little bit, you always want to make sure your characters are corrrect :3

-goes to see- XD
Aw, I like how much his sensitive hear plays into, especially in his time Acadamy~

brianchi In reply to Cerebrobullet-art [2010-07-01 19:14:02 +0000 UTC]

Which one?
I posted a few drawings, those were from an art class I attended and one of them was the product of a small spark of motivation.

The written part for Skipbeat was the easiest. I had a hell of a time trying to develop Skip's bipedal mode and trying to find him and alt mode. Ugh! Why are Transformers so hard?! ><
Yea. We just gotta take it nice and slow and make sure we don't slip. ^_^
Which is kinda hard since you gotta separate your personality from your character's. Or... try to adopt it.

Thanks!

Cerebrobullet-art In reply to brianchi [2010-07-02 01:50:56 +0000 UTC]

The one of Blitzwing and Jazz ^^

mmm, I love writing the histories |D. Not the personalities :<
ffff, I know. I think they're one of the most challenging things to draw, they take a lot of thought and consideration.
yup ^^
Hurr, I know what you mean. Sometimes it's hard to tell if I'm having a character do something because I want it to happen, or because it fits them.

Augh, I... I don't know why that had so many typos and missing words, I'm sorry :< It just... happens to me sometimes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

brianchi In reply to Cerebrobullet-art [2010-07-02 01:59:12 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that one. That one was made because of a spark of motivation I had.
Thank you!

I don't know which is harder for me, their histories or their personalities.
Indeed, I was practically pulling my hair out over Skip and that Blitzwing and Jazz pic I did. XD
Yup. That I wonder too if my characters are responding to situations because that's how they act or if that's what I want. Even the speech I some times can imagine myself saying that as if I'm in my character's body and that worries me. >_>

No, it's alright. The typo demons also get to me as well. XD
On a couple of occasions, I accidentally typo 'sec' into 'sex'.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cerebrobullet-art In reply to brianchi [2010-07-02 02:08:37 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome ^^

They both have their problems ><
augh, I feel for you ><
mmm, same here! I'm always wondering if they sound too much like me ^^. Sometimes it makes it easier they they have very drastic personalities, like being especially evil or outgoing~

XD sometimes I just get it really bad. I'll go back and re-read a post and be all "wtf, how did I forget to type that word? That was an important word!"
XD That's very forgivable! The letters are right next to eachother.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

brianchi In reply to Cerebrobullet-art [2010-07-02 03:13:26 +0000 UTC]

Yup, they do. Especially when you're in no mood for creating a character. ><
So-many-details... *curls into a fetal position*
The only thing I fear is finding out that my characters are self-inserts or Mary Sues. >_>
That's when I feel like I've failed in something. -_-

Me too! And it drives me into a frenzy! ><
I, sometimes, proof-read what I type and find mistakes. But even after posting... I still find something that bothers me. Urgh... *hits head against the wall*

Cerebrobullet-art In reply to brianchi [2010-07-03 04:21:02 +0000 UTC]

so true ><
:< mind if I join you? I... still have 3 characters to design
mm, I find, usually, if you're worried about it, your characters aren't XD. And sometimes even mary sue-ish traits and such can be used creatively if the character is well thought out

XD we all do that. It gets really bad early in the morning, and when you're hyper, it seems XD
