Phantom's profile for #Decepticon-NationThese are my words
That I’ve never said before
I think I’m doing ok
And this is the smile
That I’ve never shown before
But don't think that just because he's a sweet mech around those he cares for that he can't be tough as well. When it comes to battle, it's almost like Phantom runs separate programing. He is focused and sometimes excessively cruel, more so if someone he knows is under threat. He has a very strong urge to protect, even if it costs him. There is very little he is not willing to do for his friends, but it is nearly impossible to be ranked among his trusted few.
Phantom is an excellent sniper. He's had a lot of practice through the years, and it shows. He is, however, generally terrible at close-range combat, despite being able to collapse his sniper rifle into a rifle-sized weapon. Unless his opponent is really far away or really, really close, he probably won't hit them.
The sniper rifle itself is contained on the underside of his right arm, allowing him to use it as a hidden weapon in close combat. But, once again, it has to be really close combat.
The doors on Phantom's forearms serve as shields. The windows, when extended, are excellent at repelling fire, but only up to a certain point. They are highly effect, but only if Phantom is quick enough to utilize them.
The windows are also able to extent out on the inside of his arms, creating simple blades useful for close combat. While hardy enough to withstand blasts, they cannot withstand constant combat, and have been known to break from over-use.
Phantom suffered a lot of damage in battle that was never properly repaired, mostly because he was the one having to do the repairs. The Decepticons have tried to fix all his minor glitches, but they are still noticeably present. While generally just small annoyances, there have been times where they've cause serious problems. Phantom also has a mediocre skill at medic work and repairs, due to his need to fix his own problems most of the time. This has also contributed to his general dislike of medics.
If Phantom has one major weakness, it's to the femme models. He's always sweet on them, even if they don't return the affection, or are already involved. It is not, however, always a sexual attraction.
This history is heavily effected by any roleplays I do with him, and is subject to lots of change and addition
Phantom's family was very well off, with his father holding an important office on Cybetron. But, desperate to escape his parent's stifling hold, Phantom left Iacon for Tarn, where his brother had an upgrade shop. Phantom helped his brother, but his spark lay in the underground races he partook in. His brother served him well, giving him free upgrades and repairs when he lost (which happened... a lot)
When war started to break out, Flashback began trying to profit off the unrest by offering repairs and supplies to both sides. He enlisted his brother to help him, setting him up with a sniper rifle and hiding him away to watch his back in case a deal went south. As things degraded faster, Phantom started spending less time racing, and more time practicing shooting until he flat out refused to put the gun down. But Flashback's double dealing caught up with him, because one day he simply just didn't come back to the shop. Phantom returned to Iacon to find this parents, but, being unable to locate them, he went to drown his sorrows in energon. At the bar, he ran into an old racing friend named Breakout. The two made a connection, and, with nothing else to do, Phantom followed his friend into the service of the Decepticons
The two formed a strong bond, spending most of their time together as they terrorized their fellow Decepticons. They were considered quite an effective duo, with Phantom being a crack shot, and Breakout serving as a guardian or distraction. Unfortunately, several stellar cycles later, Phantom found himself a little too close to the action, and was badly damaged. Breakout mysteriously disappeared in the ruckus, and the Mercedes was left by his fellow soldiers to offline.. Phantom dragged himself out of his ditch and found cover to eliminate a small number of 'cons hovering around a shuttle. Once inside he took off, cursing the Decepticons and gauging his own stomach plate in an attempt to remove their symbol. The shuttle remained his for the many, many stellar cycles he spent on his own, offering his skills to anyone willing to pay the fee. He became midly successful as a sort of bounty hunter; picking off the lesser Autobots and Decepticons the factions needed eliminated, but couldn't waste the cycles hunting for. On one of these hunting trips, Phantom stumbled across his best friend Breakout, who had been enjoying a successful career as an Autobot. The sniper shot him in the face, and left him to die. He would later learn that Breakout had betrayed the Decepticons the day he'd been left to die. He would also find that Breakout has survived his attack. This revelation convinced Phantom to rejoin the Decepticons, in the interest of punishing Breakout and the Autobots.
After joining the Decepticons, Phantom was given another reason to despise the Autobots. He struck up a friendship with a medic names Scatterfrost, who quickly became very important to the mech. He became the Mercedes's most trusted friend, someone he was willing to do absolutely anything for. But an excursion into a local town ended in a battle against Autobots, and a badly wounded Scatter. In a complicated set of events, Scatter was remade into the Decepticon Outloud who, though holding a good deal of Scatterfrost's memories, was not the mech himself. Scatter was, essentially, killed.

You almost got it right, except it's semicolon. ^_^
Ugh... and don't remind me of commas. ><
I swear, if you compare it with other languages, English is the most difficult language in the world because of its many rules and whatnot. I had to take a college English class just to get that comma rule click into me, but I swear I'm still having problems. :\
I think the problems is because, in grade school, they tell you to put commas where you take a pause.
And tenses... that kinda clicked into me in middles school.

Mandarin, I speak it fairly well. ^_^
Writing and reading is... another issue. I'm taking a class for that. >_>
And then I took a Japanese class for one semester, was pretty fun. ^_^
I tried Spanish, don't know why it didn't sink into me during high school. Maybe I'll try it again.

Yea. ^_^
Being bilingual; I'm helping my classmates learns how to speak Mandarin. It's really hard for non-native speakers given that English doesn't have tones or the fact that Mandarin pronounces letters differently. @_@
It shouldn't be that hard for English speakers but... language is full of surprises. >_>
At least Japanese has an alphabet of sorts, that's a good point. ^_^
And I think I want to learn German as well. XD

Kinda. The speaking part is difficult for many non-native speakers as it requires you to pronounce things a bit differently. The writing and reading part can be overwhelming to many who are native to the language.
Yea, that must be it. XD
I know, yet so fascinating! XD

Oops, I noticed a typo. >_>
I meant non-native speakers.
And yea, the Mandarin writing systems was on-purposely made the way it is thanks to the rich nobles and whatnot way back then. They believe that only the 'elite' should be allowed to know how to write Mandarin. Which is why even we, sometimes, have a few issues with our own language. But... Mandarin is a fascinating language. It has a 5000 year history.
Yea, so am I. >_>
But... the problem with learning too many is that your brain might get a little conflicted. XD
Seven languages, I've never met a person who knew seven different languages. XD

He wasn't sure if it had been close to Phantom or not but he knew that this would be the most comfortable he could get around the mech. However he felt that small smile turn into an instant frown when asked about his past. There is so little he knew, grant it there were good points...But he never had a wonderful job such as racing. Grey Noise: *The memory itself manifested into the darkness that settled in the back of his processor. He lifted his helm slightly trying to think back when it all happen. When he first arrived on Earth he had been taken care of by humans. It became a little fuzzy after that when the fleshings had messed around with his systems. Then it all became clear when he had first entered the Decepticon ranks. Trailing a hand towards his spiked shoulder plate he lifted his arm slightly revealing a certain code. The humans who saw it said it looked more like a 'cereal number'. Grey Noise's blank expression expanded into awareness when he rubbed it absent mindly. He never knew what it was for, they...Autobots, had lied to him. Saying it was their 'code' of 'decency'. Decency, it was the code they had marked on prosti-bots to expand their services and gather money. He had remembered vividly when a 'Con, he did not know who, asked how much he charged. Unaware of it at the time he walked away...But now...* Yes...*clenching his fists he did not want to start revealing his power now. Phantom had done nothing, no, he had helped him actually. Without him questioning, the blind mech would have gone about thinking the code was nothing more then an Autobot symbol.* I...Understand...Now...But...I no...Longer do...Services...Of that...Kind.*then slowly his fists unclenched. Grey Noise admitted begrudingly that he prostituted himself for credits. It had been the only thing he knew, besides fighting and having a disability. Grant it, it was not all about him he decided on that. When Phantom spoke again breaking his thoughts. Grey Noise allowed a smile to drift upon his face without question.* Oh...I...Handle self...But...Thank you...*if he wanted too, he would have revealed his gratefulness with tears but instead sucked it back into his processor where it remained hidden for another time.*...Do you...Mind...Asking...If you have...Loved one? It made him feel...Whole, to know that they had someone to cherish. If they didn't, then he would try to fill that void with his own affections. Phantom: -nodded a little, mostly for his own benefit as Grey Noise thanked him. It wouldn't have mattered how the little mech would have replied; once Phantom's interest to protect kicked in, it was impossible to persuade him otherwise. Ever since the death of Scatterfrost, he'd been that way. Even though this pissed of many of his friends, he was persistent. But the small smile that had crept on to his faceplate dropped at the next question. The first one he'd been reluctant to answer, this one... this one was just torture. He opened his mouth for a moment, pausing-... no -the word held a mix of emotion, from regret to anger. And the memories were hard to chase away. The memory of his traitorous friend was easy to bury under anger, but there was no defense against his memories of Scatterfrost. The face of the medic was still crystal clear in his mind, and it hurt to see it. Too much regret.- I almos... I don't, no -regains his composure a little, staring at Grey Noise- ... why?

Grey Noise: *Audio receptors flickered impusivly from the tones delivered by the other mech's vocalizers. Grey Noise picked up a different frequency, one with pint up guilt. There is something behind the other's voice which in turn did not lead to alot of explination. The blind mech is not an expert on feelings, but he did understand that when another could barely talk of that one subject there had to be something....Or maybe its nothing at all. Maybe Phantom just does not care for such matters. Slowly his curious mouth turned into a frown. Maybe he is the only one who felt pain from not having a lover. He felt idiotic for sounding like a whining sparkling. Despite his appearance he did not want to sound so meloncholy. When Phantom asked why shortly after his reverie. The blind mech uncurled himself placing a hand upon his welded neck unconciously.* Because...I...Don't...Want be...Only one...*a tired look expressed upon his facial plating, he needed to get this out. It had been haunting him for a while and Phantom, Con or not, is easy to talk to. And, he was more grateufl.* He did...Lots for...Me...Then...He was...Gone...Maybe...Dead...I ask...Because...I want...Empathy...Not...Pity...*leaning on one of his hands he tilted his helm forward thinking this through.* Just...Another voice...Someone who shares...Pain...Its...Silly...Know...But...Good to...Get it...Out...

Phantom: -his optics followed the movement of the hand to the wound before jumping back to the smaller mech's faceplate. His face remained unreadable. Not that it mattered considering who he was talking to, but it was hard to fight old habits like that. But the explanation he heard softened his optics. He could relate. Primus, he could certainly relate. His mouth hung open for a few clicks as he tried to think of something to say- I... I understand. -he tilted his head down, shadowing his optics from sight as he smiled a little- Empathy... I think I've been looking for a bit of that, too -it felt odd, almost frightening to reveal that to someone who he could still consider such a stranger. But it was hard not to, with such a confession facing him. Perhaps that was what he really needed, not simply a replacement for the void that the loss of his friend has left- he was important to you? -he helm lifted a little, red optics peering curiously at Grey Noise. It was, perhaps, a pointless question, considering the topic, but it was more an invitation to explain further their connection-

Grey Noise: *Listening to the question intently, each word reverbrating in his helm. His lover, late lover, had done more then just comfort the blind mech. Lifting his small digits he moved them about until he felt the other's frame. Moving closer, he probably, hopefully, is touching his pede or that is what the smooth metal felt like. Touching Phantom in such a close proximty is out of affection. Knowing that he is still there made Grey Noise vulnerable but welcoming. It showed that Phantom truly had an interest in him. Gingerly his cold fingers spread against the metal spreading his own type of warmth through his own comfort.*...Very....*slowly a sad smile hung upon his facial features as he rasped out the last words.* He...Saved me...From...The...mech who...Bought me...*memories flourished in his processor again. The day he could talk normally, the day that Ricochet had almost destroyed his vocal system and dignity. He had stolen everything turning him into what he is now. But his old lover...Drench...Had scooped him up in his strong servos carrying him away.* If...Wasn't for him...I...Be dead...*squeezing his chasis painfully he kept back the coolant that tried to escape his sightless optics.* But...Failed him...*leaning his helm against Phantom's pede he realized that Drench could still be alive though that was highly unlikely*. We...Almost...Spark bond...He..Said no...Incase...*sighing from his intakes his lips formed into a subtle frown. He learned that crying about it would not get him anywhere. And Phantom probably did not want to know anymore then that.* I..Hate him...As well...

Phantom: -he tensed instantly as the small servo rested on his leg, optics widening in surprise. Lost in his own thoughts, he hadn't noticed the movement of the searching hand, and the touch was a surprise. He resisted the urge to pull away, instead trying to focus on the story Grey Noise was telling. But the effort was lost as the head leaned against him. The cautious side of him encouraged him to stay still and ignore him, but he felt he was comfortably beyond that kind of charade. Cautiously, he lifted his servo, letting it hover reluctantly in the air for a moment. But with a sympathetic smile, he laid it gently on Grey's shoulder. He couldn't say he was good at being comforting, but Primus be damned if he wasn't going to try his best. He knew it's what he would have wanted, if he were in that situation. But now he was torn, wondering if it was alright to probe further, or if it was best to shift the topic. That lone "in case" tickled the back of his processor, spinning curious questions in his mind. But was it appropriate to ask about it? The Mercedes drew a small breath, and took the chance- in case... what?

Grey Noise: *Surprise came about his facial plating when he felt the comforting hand upon his shoulder pad. The wonderous effect of warmth flooded his emotional systems creating a stirring sensation inside his spark. Memory of Drench doing the same, showering him with affection until that blurry reverie faded into his processor. Ideally his fingers moved back and forth upon the pede as he thought about the question. His delight in drowning in this...Comfort almost had him forget where he is at. Swallowing back the putrid energon lumps that filled into his vocal piping he thought about the question first before answering quite coyly.* Incase....He offlined...*wincing from the thought he thanked Primus for Phantom delievering the affectionate hand in which case helped him through this small ordeal.* If...Offlined...I...Been miserable...Forever...Half of...Spark is...With bond...Causing half...Yourself to offline...*mulling over the facts he was glad that Drench decided not too. Even though Grey Noise himself is a dark, ominous little guy he still did not want to become something akin to death itself.* I...Be walking...In Death's...Wake...But frame...On Autopilot.*curling up into the hand he shuddered slightly.* That...Why I...Now know...Spark bonding...Is...Good when...Meet right...One.

Phantom: -Secretly, he was glad his attempt at comfort was accepted by the small mech. He hadn't expected him to reject it as much as shy away. But he couldn't feel much joy as he listened, his sparking going out to his new friend. Spark Bonding... he'd barely even thought about it himself. In his optics, it was better to have loved and loss, then to have never have loved at all, as the humans said it. It was far to inappropriate a time to voice his dissent, though, as he instead extended the reach of his hand, leaning forward to wrap around Grey Noise's shoulders- In that case, perhaps after this war is over -he muses quietly, drawing one of his knees up to lean his arm against it-

Grey Noise: *The shift made him squirm slightly only to loosen up. Warmth radiating from the other bot filled his spark with a twitch of happiness. Home. Finally a home to be, no matter if their cause is a little dangerous he still believed that every 'Con had something good about them. Serenly, he curled up more against Phantom digits ideally caressing his pedes.* Maybe...*he rasped softly almost falling into recharge before another question popped up. Personal again, however his curiosity had gotten the best of him.* Have always...Liked war?*the inquiry itself is not to attack Phantom but to generalize everything out. You get to know more about a bot way then anything else.*
