Description
The first knock woke the dog. It was the second one that woke Samantha, as she stood up rubbing her eyes. She blinked widely at the door, waiting for her vision to return. A part of her was wondering if she had been dreaming or not. But then came the third knock.

Boom! Boom! It sounded like something big and solid was hitting the metal door from the other side.

The only problem was that everybody was dead. She knew this because she had killed them. When the food shortages had been reported at the small trading post on Dione 4, the small crew had decided to draw straws and see who was to be eaten first. The idea was that six out of seven would be able to survive until the rescue team was able to get there. But this also meant that Samantha's dog would be put down as well-- and she wasn't having that. She even pleaded that they just eat her and let her dog, Scrubs, live!

They said no.

But Scrubs was more than just a dog-- he was her friend, her confidant, and her little snuggle-buddy. It had been almost two years on the small moon of Saturn with literally no windows to count. And she only had Scrubs to get through her mindless days. So when one of the others stuck a fork knife into his side, making the fury mutt scream, she didn't hesitate to pull out her gun and shoot six times.

It was reactive. It was wrong. It was sickening. And she did realize that afterwards, which didn't change what she had done. And now, someone was knocking on the door. She knew it wasn't her imagination. Scrubs was afraid, and cowered by her feet.

How was she going to explain what had happened? Most of the bodies she had put in the furnace. But what about the half eaten foot she had in her refrigerator?

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Samantha grabbed her steak knife...
