It's not gonna be a comic... I don't think. I can never draw the panels well or stick to what I'm supposed to be doing. I think I'll just be writing it.

Gimp is free, very good for artists starting out with digital. Just explore the program a bit and you'll understand what each thing does.
Manga studio debut 4 is great for making comics and mangas. Very easy for starters, but the 'colored' and 'black & white' layers are confusing when starting out.
Autodesk Sketchbook Express is very simple, but very good. It came free with my pen tablet I purchased. Just go to best buy and check out the pen tablets they have.

The stripes and markings are pretty cool, i would suggest changing his face a little, it kind of looks pasted on, and of a different texture, other than the body is really good!
I of course LOVE the colour theme, but thats just me!

I know how you feel, i use to have a tablet but no good program then lost the tablet, now i just *try* to use ms paint! More like MS PAIN!!
