Description
Contest Entry forARTIST'S COMMENTS
This is my second entry for =boribaby s elemental contest. I know, I already submitted one entry which I'm perfectly happy with, but I just couldn't resist!
This is Mykelti, =boribaby s gorgeous Bacabello stallion. The element I decided to draw this time was earth. I sort of tried to combine it with Mykelti's innate ability of floral healing. There's no real story as such behind this picture, so you're free to imagine whatever you like. I sort of imagined him breaking free from the stone beneath, springing into the air.. But it doesn't necessarily have to be like that. I've always looked for an excuse to draw a partly statue/stone character, so this was the perfect opportunity for me, which is why I just had to enter a second time.
I know it's not as good as it could be, and I'm not completely happy with how it turned out, but I don't want to go back and redo it. The transition between stone and horse could be more "unorganised", I know, and I'd still want to add some little chips of stone flying everywhere from the impact, but I'm not going to change it anytime soon. The clouds took forever to do aswell! Anyways, hope someone likes it, or at least you Michelle!

I've seen the horse stance in a howrse.com Golden Apple Coat. I'm not sure if you got the idea from that, but it still looks nice (:

Gorgeous picture and a wonderful, original concept. You've done a great job with melding the ideas together - and the clouds do look amazing
The plants in the corner are a perfect touch and there's a really strong feel in general. Very nicely done.

This one I created directly on the computer by making a digital line-art first. But I do also create hand-drawn sketches that I scan in and colour from Unfortunately I have never used elements so I'm afraid I'm no help there, sorry.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it Unfortunately I don't use commissions or other people's horses for coats, so with pictures like this I feel the least I can do is change the colour

This is a lovely piece of artwork! The colouring, shading and amount of detail you've put into it look amazing, particularly the way the horse is half stone - that's such an original and creative idea! I love how one hind leg is still fully stone while the other is becoming more "natural" - the vines definitely add to that impression. The eagles (or are they hawks?) are a nice touch too, particularly with the blue bands on their wings!

ta praca jest przepiękna
kolorystyka, cieniowanie i kompozycja jest wspaniała
bardzo mi się podoba jak ten koń przeistacza się w kamień, a może właśnie się z kamienia rodzi
chmury i maść zwierzęcia zapierają dech
