Description
Tutorial for painting a close-up of a Wolf (or any other furry creature).WARNING: large file. It might take a while before the tutorial shows up on your screen, so please, be patient. I was too lazy to add a preloader...
Use the buttons at the top of the tutorial to navigate through the slides. I have no idea why the text has turned out jagged and hard to read, so I apologise if you have difficulties reading it.
ARTIST'S COMMENTS
Thank you ever so much for my second DD ~AnimalLover345 and ^shelldevil !
EDIT: Due to popular demand I re-named the tutorial more appropriately "How to Paint a Wolf".
EDIT 2: Fixed all known spelling mistakes.
A tutorial I pulled together of my last Wolf piece. I don't know if it will be of help or use to anyone, but there's no harm in making one anyway! Please bear in mind that this is the first time I've drawn something this furry this close up, so I'm sure there are other ways of doing this too.
If you have any problems with viewing the tutorial or any questions or problems in general, please let me know. I'll be happy to help as much as I can
NOTE: The tutorial explains functions and options available in Adobe Photoshop CS2. Any older or newer version of Photoshop should still work just as well. I have no experience in any other digital editing program (such as GIMP or Corel Painter) so I have no idea to what extent you can follow the tutorial there. If anything, it might just give you an idea of how to draw similarly, but you will have to find out on your own I'm afraid.
You are not authorised to redistribute this tutorial or the original image without my written permission, or claim as your own. Please respect my wishes.

This does not need a DD! For crying out loud! it's the fourth damn result when you search "wolf tutorial"! This was while not undeserved, very unnecessary.

Gee thanks. If you have nothing nice to say about it, then say nothing at all please.

did I say it wasn't deserved? No. I said it was unneeded considering it's already hugely popular. I even said it was deserved, which means, it's good, and I think it's good. I just think drawing attention to something anyone could of found if this is what they wanted, was unnecessary. That's not "mean" to say. That's just what I feel. Now, if I'd said it sucked and was worthless and I never got anything out of it, that'd be rude/mean/whatever. But the fact that this deviation was already massively popular, to me says it doesn't really need more attention drawn to it. Anyone who wanted it, could find it.

That's a very biased comment. Who cares if it's popular? It's helpful and it's a good tutorial.

NatalieBaileyHardin In reply to haphephilia [2011-10-20 21:53:20 +0000 UTC]
No it's not biased. Anyone who WANTED a wolf tutorial could find it easy. Side-note: I love wolves.
So no, not biased. How the hell is it biased?

haphephilia In reply to NatalieBaileyHardin [2011-10-20 22:01:07 +0000 UTC]
You're saying it basically shouldn't be a DD because it's popular. I say that's biased. Of course though, you'll disagree.

Well, it doesn't NEED any more recognition, now does it?
π: 0 β©: 2
KeitiWolf In reply to NatalieBaileyHardin [2011-10-21 05:29:08 +0000 UTC]
its not the fact if it needs more recognition for itself or not.
if it can help other people, people who perhaps have never tried looking up tutorials or dont know how to/didnt know they existed, it could definitely help them greatly.
as long as it helps people, i dont see a problem with it.

If they don't know how to look up things, they clearly shouldn't even be on here.

its called being new on the website.
you were that person once.
maybe you should just get off too.

Actually, no I wasn't. I can clearly see "Search" up in the top left. Like anyone else should be able to.

KeitiWolf In reply to NatalieBaileyHardin [2011-10-21 21:05:24 +0000 UTC]
well apparently you think youre just all that~
like i said, if it can help people, it was worth it. quit being an ass about it.
π: 0 β©: 1
NatalieBaileyHardin In reply to KeitiWolf [2011-10-21 21:07:29 +0000 UTC]
Who said I "think I'm just all that"? I never once said that. I never made an implication that I was better than anyone.
I just think it doesn't need any more recognition.
And name calling? What are you? 12?
π: 0 β©: 1
KeitiWolf In reply to NatalieBaileyHardin [2011-10-21 21:16:03 +0000 UTC]
you sure act like you do.
"everyone knows where that is." sure sounds like youre a know-it-all to me.
name calling occurs when you act like one. calling me 12 when youre the one bashing artwork? ;]
π: 0 β©: 1
NatalieBaileyHardin In reply to KeitiWolf [2011-10-21 21:39:19 +0000 UTC]
Okay. Stop. Right now. I'm not bashing artwork. I ALREADY SAID I LIKE THE ART WORK!
All I SAID was that it doesn't need a DD. Stop talking to me if you won't even read what I say.

NatalieBaileyHardin In reply to KeitiWolf [2011-10-22 01:24:46 +0000 UTC]
You know the fact that I said the DD was not "undeserved" kind of says I like it.

I mean it's good, it's a great thing, but I thought DD were to give exposure to artists, :\ Which is why I don't agree with something already popular being given one.
π: 0 β©: 1
KeitiWolf In reply to NatalieBaileyHardin [2011-10-22 01:51:55 +0000 UTC]
hmm, i can definitely see where youre coming from now.
sorry, the arguement before seemed a bit stale;;
i do kind of agree with you when you say it like that. although it is a bit frustrating to see already popular artists/artists whove already gotten a DD get another one, like i said, as long as it helps people like this i cant really say much about it. :\

Daily Deviations are meant to give something back to the artist, not just to give them exposure, you know.
π: 0 β©: 1
NatalieBaileyHardin In reply to Sky-of-Silver [2011-10-20 21:22:15 +0000 UTC]
I think having fourth place in search results is giving them plenty.
π: 0 β©: 1
Sky-of-Silver In reply to NatalieBaileyHardin [2011-10-20 22:50:03 +0000 UTC]
But having fourth place in search results doesn't make you feel like you're benefitting the community, it just makes you feel like, "hey... lots of people like my work... that's nice..."

NatalieBaileyHardin In reply to Sky-of-Silver [2011-10-21 21:05:06 +0000 UTC]
Wooooooow. You're arrogant. If people FAVE IT, it means they LIKE IT, and it was USEFUL for them.
Saying "It's not helping anyone because it's not a DD" sounds extremely arrogant.
π: 0 β©: 1
Sky-of-Silver In reply to NatalieBaileyHardin [2011-10-21 22:06:20 +0000 UTC]
I apologize, I'm not trying to sound arrogant.
This is a fantastic tutorial, and I think that rewarding it with a DD is just a really nice way to thank the artist. If you disagree, I respect that.
π: 0 β©: 1
NatalieBaileyHardin In reply to Sky-of-Silver [2011-10-21 23:55:12 +0000 UTC]
Look, I'm not denying that it's really good. But did it really need the exposure when it's already hugely popular?
It's a great piece, hell, I planned on using this for a few months now to try and draw a really good digital wolf.
I guess I see the point of "rewarding" the artist with a DD. I just thought that it being top search results was enough. But I get how a DD can be a "reward"

Sky-of-Silver In reply to NatalieBaileyHardin [2011-10-22 00:03:26 +0000 UTC]
I see your point- this piece was already extremely well-known even before it got a DD.
