Description
I chose a mechanical theme because I wanted to draw with a different than usual.
Photoshop had an error during the drawing, and half of the data was lost.
I was going to give up, but I got it done anyway.

If you want to learn..
There are a few programming languages out there that are pretty easy to pick up, C# is a good one to learn cause it's what Unity uses. There's also another free game program called Godot. If you're looking for a program for making 2d games Gamemaker Studio is a good one because it exports to multiple platforms but you gotta pay for it. There's also Love2d but I haven't messed with it much. If you're into small games and fantasy consoles there's pico8 (they even had a handheld device you can program on that I got called a pocketchip). There's also thousands of video tutorials out there for learning all these languages and programs.
Once you learn one programming language it's normally easy to pick up another because a lot of them work the same way (unless it's something more format related like html or css (though still pretty easy to pick up)).

You can also keep a game journal and fill it with ideas and tricks you learn along the way. I even made a full page of mechanics that are fun to pick out random ones and see if they work together (separation/combination, buoyancy/sinking, avoidance/follow etc.). Another thing to fill it with could be creature behavior or plant pattern studies.
