I got the idea after that "Double Date" episode in TTG! I know it's just a kids show with silly jokes, but I like to look for a deeper meaning to things (even though it might not be intentional. HA).
I figure the voice in Robin's head is kind of ...bad for him. I mean he said it himself... HE SHOULD WORRY ABOUT THE VOICE IN HIS HEAD! All these negative thoughts about self worth and what not is why he acts so crazy and superior to others. The only good thoughts he might have are of Starfire, but even then... the voice seems to belittle it.
....OR YOU CAN TAKE IT AS THE NARRATOR AND STARFIRE HAVING A MOMENT. I DON'T KNOW. xD What would you call that ship anyways?

Curios thing, Robin is my last fav character on TT.
I mean, Robin and BB, almost the same story.
Dead parents, orpahanate, thought mentors... but BB manage to create a better face to this, instead Robin hide it under anger and training. Dats why... When someone says Robin it0s better because he suffered more..
