Species name- Ociel- is pronounced as AH-IY-L †. Ociel's origin is Latin, meaning from the sky. Ociel is used for the singular and plural form.
Size- the body is about the length of a human hand. The tail is 1.5 times the length of the body.
Features and Abilities- Ociel are small rodents most known for their ability to change temperature. The distinctive colored stripe down their back changes color based on their temperature. Yellow for warm, blue for cold, light gray for neutral. When they are given attention they radiate heat that reaches out about 20 feet. When they are ignored the area around them is cooled for the same radius. Their favorite food is a fruit from a local type of tree. When they eat it they become overstimulated for about ten minutes, releasing heat, before getting tired and going to a neutral state where they do not affect the temperature. They nap in this state for up to eight hours or until disturbed.
Extra facts- in their natural habitat they spend a lot of time napping in trees in neutral state. When startled in this state they would often fall out of the trees, which is how they were first discovered. This lead to their name, as the people who discovered them thought they were falling from the sky.
Their diet consists of fruit, grain, and sometimes small bugs.
