Description
The Full Flower Power Exercise Tips and Results HERE .Artist: Tim Von Rueden (vonn)
This one is a challenge, not only are there 6 flowers to draw and detail but I didn’t give out any reference images this time around either. So big congrats to those that gave the attempt and continue testing building values without the need for highlights.
Below is my step by step chart and explanation tips for those that are looking to try out this exercise for themselves. I also used some of the Concept Cookie basic brushes to produce the results as well as a couple of the Citizen texture brushes (Rust Texture and Freckles Brushes lol). It’s instances like this when you can use a brush meant for to produce a “rust” effect and it works really well in creating the imperfectness of the petal texture.
Really big shoutout to the community artists that took on the challenge especially sophora , digitd , and rk12 ! I really enjoyed your submissions and I know how tough these can be as a challenge in patience. So high fives all around to those that did this exercise and I look forward to seeing the results in the next one!

Not to come off rude but it's a flower, there's no such thing as upside down..

Depends on the flower some will always try to put them selves upright.

This is really helpful I've used the "dab all over and then remove the outline and extra color"-bit before, but never with flowers. I either try to draw petals one stroke per petal, or painstakingly fill in larger flowers (which ends up looking awful). Next time I need to tackle a rose, I'll try your technique!

The flower names are written in their description link, but are as follows: pansy, orchid, daisy, chrysanthemum, rose, and marigold.

When you remove the lines, do you just delete that layer the lines are on or do you lock the layer, make the colors of the lines to match, and then unlock to blend together? Sorry if that doesn't make scene :3

Nope, usually rendered to the point of taking the lines off by using contrasting colors and sometimes Tim likes to paint over the line layer. -Joe
