Description
So, Astrid KNOWS they have been up to trouble no doubt if any indicator they act just like their father when confronted.Meet Icky [left] and Svenan the Younger [right], my hypothetical offspring of Astrid and Hiccup.
Svenan is the eldest, about three or three and half years older than his younger brother. He was named after Astrid's brother that appears in my Seasonal Series. He's a mischief-maker although he never means to. Ruffnut and Fishlegs's daughter, Frostbite [link] never leaves him alone and he hates her.
'Icky' Is actually a nickname derived from 'Stoick' [They named him after his grandaddy] but to avoid confusion they just call him Icky, though he's not 'Icky' at all. He is in fact really sweet and people swear he looks exactly like Hiccup did when he was a child. The kids tease him and call him 'Stoick the Wee' sometimes.
I wrote some stories on here where they appear.
'Mother's Reward': [link] based on this picture
'Tea Party': [link] for humorous Svenan story
'A Tolerable Interruption': [link] has both boys in it.

I think my favorite part of this is the obnoxious "hi mom" dialogue.

Repetition, yeah they are emulating Hiccup. In the movie, when he's with Toothless trying to get his harness unhooked, he is acting suspicious to Astrid so he keeps saying "Hi Astrid"
So here, if the kids are acting suspicious, they repeat "Hi Mom" in various ways

Yeah, I really tried making them the obvious conglomeration of the Hiccup/Astrid camp
You can tell what Astrid is thinking now because I wrote a piece this afternoon based on it. Read here: [link]
Thank you!

Oh I am totally in love with these two guys! I started giggling the minute I read the text, thinking, "oh, yeah, Hiccup's kids"
I love that the little one is named for Stoick but has his own nickname. Stoick the Wee - d'awww!

Thank you. I drew it and I couldn't stop sneaking glances at it because it was made of pure adorable, lol. I tried to mesh Astrid and Hiccup together for their features but both really look a lot like Hiccup. Maybe it's a boy thing, and Svenan has that lopsided smile down pat

DAwwwwwww!!! I love the text in the background. It just makes the picture even cuter.
Icky's shirt is just perfect. I think the oversized sweater look fits him well.
You continue to amaze me with your skills.
Cheers,

Thank you! Yeah I gave Icky's shirt Astrid's basic pattern and it's too cute!!!
I actually started writing something today that has to do with the picture subject. So hopefully that'll be up soon. All these little family scenario prompts will show up in my next series whenever I get themaall ordered. I'm trying to have a linear story for once

You're welcome. I thought it was beyond adorable. I'm going to make some fan art of my OCs and characters from my series "Fly Away Home" and "Always" since I have some interesting OCs. If my life wasn't so busy now I'd have drawn them already.
By the way, what kinds of mediums did you use to draw the pictures? Brand-wise (Etc). I'm just curious because I like how it came out and how it reflects on the character sketches. It doesn't seem like it'd ruin the quality of the drawings you want to create.
Sweetness. I think I've read something new from you, I'm not sure if that's what you were talking about.

Oh the thing I was referring to was 'Mother's reward' that's an exclusive writing bit on DA only right now, but will get stuck into 'Slivers and Slices' on FF.net.
For a majority of my pictures I just sketch in sketchpad and scan it in, put a few filters to bring out the line-work in Photoshop and then digitally color everything using blending layers so the sketch still comes through. If you have Photoshop the layer type is 'multiply' but the color comes out darker than the one you pick.
Then to finish off I either put in a light texture background with some paintbrushes to make it look old and worn in the background.
Good luck, Hope to see some awesome OC drawings soon

Ah. That's cool. I can't wait to see that on "Slivers and Slices." As I've said before I'm having some problems with my message inbox on FFN, so I'll have to fix that.
Oh, okay. I don't have Photoshop (yet) but I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
Sweet, that's a cool technique. Whatever you did it really works well.
Well, at the moment the only project that will be happening is for my painting class. My teacher is letting us do whatever we want in terms of the following parameters:
A
AB
A
So we have to pick a topic and use this formula creatively to formulate related subjects. I'm going to do a dragon (AKA Toothless) and a more realistic Hiccup for mine. When it's done I'll load it. I need to get a scanner because taking pictures just doesn't work that well.
I look forward to more work from you as well.

If you're university has a library they might have scanners or a computer lab with photoshop so all you have to have is a data stick and you can color and scan all you want for free and then save it there. That's how I got by in college

I'm sure they have one and I might even be able to convince the animation teacher to get the school to buy one if they don't. I just found out that she can buy more animation markers if I run out, which is cool.

Haha I imagined a mommy-Astrid saying that clearly. Though Haddock Bros. shenanigans are most likely involved with breaking stuff around the house.
Thank you!
