I did this meme: fav.me/d2vx881
This is how my art influences feel like to me, although maybe I'm mistaken!
More detail:
- Clamp, particularly Mokona Apapa: Much of the way I draw eyes and my thick lineart derives from the main Clamp style. I still draw orbs/jewels the way Clamp does. This particular art is one of my favorite pieces of all time.
- Naoko Takeuchi: Spent several years being influenced by this style but mostly when I was young. There isn't much of her style in my current art. And I've never been able to duplicate the way she does color.
- Akira Toriyama: Similar to Naoko Takeuchi. Some of the way I draw wrinkles is still inspired by this style.
- Tetsuya Nomura: Another really big influence. Like with Clamp, the thick lines and bold, mostly flat colors is still a part of my style.
- Miwa Ueda: Small influence now, but the way she draws lips has definitely stuck with me.
- Pixel art: Featuring art from Seiken Densetsu 3 and sakurafairy . Color palettes and ways of shading have stuck with me from my time viewing and making pixel art.
- Akihiko Yoshida: The chibi art and proportions have stuck with me from my time duplicating this art style. His color palettes are basically the opposite of what I'm drawn to, though -- largely brown and grey whereas I like bright colors everywhere.
- Gradients in nature, such as sunsets, fall leaves, etc.: I find these color palettes inspiring. Photograph by Vicky Spencer.
- Tom Warburton: I spent a while imitating this art style. I think the way I draw sleeves and wrinkles still derives from it.
- Superhero cartoons and comics / Saturday morning cartoons, especially Timmverse and X-Men: Evolution: A lot of different styles are lumped under here, and while I'm influenced by many, I don't view my style as particularly indebted to any one in particular.
- My mom: The person who inspired me to start drawing. This is my attempt at replicating her style from half-recalled memories over 20 years ago, so that's why it looks so similar to my normal. Anyway, I barely remember her style anymore, but my art journey started when I tried to copy her drawings.
