I do the trades myself, I do pick up some comics here ot there, but most of the time I just wait for the trades.

It's sooo hard for me to NOT buy the comics, even thou, like you, I prefer the TPB's (even have a bookcase in my living room with all of them on it! It's so cool to look at the TPB's all in aline!). How do you resist not buying the comics? Please, tell me your secret!!!!!! LOL!

lol I don't know! I still buys some comics, but I think what really did it for me, was all this cross-over nonsens by both DC and Marvel with there Dark riegn and 52 weeks later stuff, I just gon't sick of all of it and the fact they were trying to gimick you into buying more titles, lol just burned out, plus I get sick of them both taking all the fun out of the books as well. I do really enjoy Marvel's adventure line, it brings back memories of the good old days.

I know, I've recently had to make some hard choices on my monthly comic habit, what with money getting tight. I've discovered that the issues I just can't wait to read each week are the keepers while the ones that sit or are part of a bigger "crossover" event like Dark Reign I'll have to pass on. Like you, I sometimes like reading the older back issues than the more recent ones cause their just mor fun!

yeah, I really miss the 80's, the books were cheaper, and the stories were so much more fun. The trend of comics writing and making them just for adults seems to have taken all the fun out of them.

I read the two Avengers/Terminus issues by Roger Stern and said to myself, "This is how comics should be!" A big threat tearing up the Savage Land (Terminus), a call going out to the Avengers for help, and the eventual throw-down between the two. Throw in guest stars like Ka-Zar, Zabu and Shanna and sub-plots like Captain Marvel's capture by Nebula's space pirates and their plans to over-throw the Skrull empir, and you have all the makings of classic storytelling. Plus Hercules ripping open Terminus' armor to reveal a smaller alien controlling the larger Terminus armor is just great stuff!

oh man, thats the best, I just wish they did epic stuff like that without trying to tie it into 30 different comics like they today.

yeah, it seems to be lost forever at this point, it sucks we can't look forward to those stories to much anymore.

Now we have storylines drug-out over several issues and titles that could have been told in 1 or 2 issues max! Perfect example was the Utopia storyline the involved the Dark Avengers/Dark X-Men/X-Men. Huge waste of time and money. The san Fransico riot theme was drug out for several issues and could have been contained probably in only a couple of pages! This taking a storyline and streching the shit out of it to make it 12 issues or so is driving me crazy and killing my wallet! But it's my fault cause all marvel cares about is the dollar, and if I keep spending my money on it they'll keep putting this kind of stuff out!
