So here is that "larger project" I mentioned here .

Since I first made a pony page for the pony on the left, I was thinking of some potential canon pony friends for him, and these two stand next to each other in Hearts and Hooves day toward the end of the musical number.

Hearts and Hooves day was Star Hunter's (right) first appearance, but only as a tiny and easily-missed background pony; he did not have any major background appearances until Hurricane Fluttershy. As a result of them standing next to each other, people thought the light brown pony was a certain brown pony of identical design minus wings, and that the dark blue pony would be an ideal representation for Captain Jack. As time went on, Star Hunter was nothing more than a ponified Captain Jack in most artwork and stories, while Crescent Moon was forgotten and ignored almost completely, since they thought he was someone else. This happened instead of the usual saucy suggestive same-sex shipping that typically results from pairings in the show like this.

So, I thought I'd try something different by doing art unrelated to Doctor Who whatsoever of these two with this. I've only vectored these two once or twice in the past for another project, and grouped them with two of my other favorite background pegasus stallions, though this is the first time I pair them explicitly together. I'm not good with complicated effects so it's just the two vectors I did a couple days ago recolored into them, with a background thrown in and a trick with the cutie marks from the Season 3 premiere . And because the academy uniform is so stylish .

I'll save the more detailed explanation of my headcanon for these two for another time when I vector them with the third group member; all I need to say is that I put these two as close friends, and nothing more. The only change is that Star Hunter appears wearing a wing pony badge in Wonderbolts Academy, while Crescent Moon is not shown wearing one, but is shown speaking/leading four cadets near the beginning of the episode. Still, I could see these two as partners with Star Hunter as the leader.
