Description Here is the Covenant Comparison chart. (WiP) There still is a long road ahead before they are all finished but it's a start. Also the CPV doesn't look too different from the CCS but it is. It has more fins, additional armor at the bottom and it's texture will be different.

These models are for my mod for NJI.

Its at the top. Its not fully in view because its so large. I believe that that's fixed in the updated view (not uploaded yet)

What happened to the CSO class supercarrier?

chakotay02 In reply to shadowkirby9345 [2011-11-08 11:10:17 +0000 UTC]

It won't be in my mod. I'll have a different class of supercarrier as I thought it was stupid that they simply used a larger version of the Assault Carrier's model.

It makes some sense. It's known that the Covenant isn't very creative. The supercarrier probably is just a larger version of the assault carrier.

Why are their other ships a different design then? Why not have all their ships the same model. I also don't know why you think the Covenant isn't very creative; just look at the incredible designs on High Charity and all the different types of armor they have for every race.

Sorry for double post, but I thought of something. What type of ship is the big one, cuz if it's what I think it might be now, then my previous comment was wrong.

I call it a Flagship, however, throughout Halo, its been called an Assault Carrier.

I thought the assault carrier was bigger when compared with the CCS-classes.

A CCS class is 1,782 meters while a Covenant Assault Carrier is 5,346 meters. So that's three times as long.

Size comparisons are a little off, but it's very interesting to see some of the different covenant ship shapes compared.

The sizes are right. Trust me. Some might seem a little off, but that's probably just the angle.

oh and 1 more thing i forgot.. sorry.
i just wanted to ask why that destroyer is gigantic compared to the ccs?

it should be dwarfed by that thing, yet here, it is bigger.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chakotay02 In reply to xXHONORguardXx [2010-07-17 17:53:51 +0000 UTC]

That destroyer is 1500 meters. A CCS is 1782 meters. That's only a 282 meter difference.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

xXHONORguardXx In reply to chakotay02 [2010-07-18 10:38:19 +0000 UTC]

but the size difference is quite too obvious with the destoyer being bigger.

what you say is a small difference is actually almost one fourth of the ship.

chakotay02 In reply to xXHONORguardXx [2010-07-18 15:33:51 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps the ship seems bigger, but in 3ds Max I work with exact sizes. So they're both the size they're supposed to.

i was looking for some nice size comparisons between the ships in the covenant navy.
did you create your own image for some of the ships that have no default look or never appeared in game?

you forgot the corvette. ^^

chakotay02 In reply to HaseoYashimora [2010-02-10 16:41:02 +0000 UTC]

I see now. My CCS is indeed too big now that I checked Halopedia. I have it on 2,2 km when it should be 1,782. I'll change that at the next update.

Your chart however, also contains an error. Though the books claim a Covenant destroyer is 1,5 km, the SoF is 2,5 km and if you check the image when they collide in Halo Wars (shown from the bottom) the Destroyer is more around 1,65 km. I did the math. Besides, if you've seen that you'll know there's no way the SoF is shorter then the Destroyer. In an interview it was said that the SoF was 2,5 km. Check the source at halopedia.

Also, did you create that image of the Covenant Frigate yourself? It looks interesting. I'd love to see some more images of it.

Heh, kinda looks like a Destroyer to me, with the one very big plasma projector underneath the head of the ship, ready to destroy anything underneath it.

On an old subject of conversation, it says in the Halo Essential Visual Guide that the Destroyers, such as those seen in Halo Wars, "can and have been used in lieu of cruisers and carriers for occupation needs."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chakotay02 In reply to Aqua311 [2011-08-12 18:36:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's good because I intent to use them as old carriers. Since you have the guide though, is it worth it? I bought the Encyclopedia when it came out and I was hugely disappointed. There was almost no new information.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aqua311 In reply to chakotay02 [2011-08-12 19:07:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the guide is worth it. It's alphabetical, it gives info on everything seen in the games and sometimes references things in other media, like the books, movie and comics. Each page is about a specific subject. Only one page for one thing.

Plus it gives the actual names of the three Hierarchs. For example, Regret's full name was Lod Mron

When it talks about the ship classifications, it also describes other ships that fall in that category. There are three types of Covenant carriers, four types of cruisers, two types of destroyers and two types of corvettes.

The light corvettes can cloak themselves, which finally explains how Reach was invaded under the noses of the UNSC.

It gives the name of the ship Regret was on when he invaded Earth. As well as the name of the Corvette you attack on Reach. It even gives the names of every commanding officer of every known ship seen in the games.

Continuing the subject of ships, there are three types of UNSC frigates and three types of cruisers.

There's lots of details in the guide. It even describes how the Needler works.

And about the Encyclopedia, that big ass book gave the most info on Project Orion, the first supersolder program, which Spartan-II descended from. That info helped me with something.

Anyway, the Essential Visual Guide can give you a lot of statistical information. Certainly can't hurt to know a bit more.

Aqua311 [2010-01-17 14:40:56 +0000 UTC]

Hey, the picture was edited... interesting.

I see the Destroyer introduced in Halo Wars is included. Very good.

But what is that ship between the Assault Carrier and the cruiser? I don't recognise it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chakotay02 In reply to Aqua311 [2010-01-17 15:05:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I update them every once in a while. The UNSC ones are also updated. Though not much I believe.

As for the ships, it goes top to bottom; Unyielding Hierophant, Flagship, Carrier, CPV class Battlecruiser, CCS class Battlecruiser and CAG class Carrier.
And then the smaller ones; CDA class Destroyer, CHS class Frigate, Stealth ship, Phantom and Seraph.

Now I know that that Halo Wars ship is called a Destroyer by the creators of the game but it just doesn't look like a Destroyer so I made it a Carrier.

now why would you ever need a ship thats over five thousand meters long?

I think that the covenant were compensating for something. lol

I like your designs. From an engineering standpoint your 3D designs are just interesting to look at. There is one slight detail in your labeling (sorry I'm kind of OCD about this) CCS is a generic acronym standing for Covenant Capital Ship, it's not actually a particular class of ship, any ship larger than a single ship is a CCS. Sorry just my stupid attention to detail.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chakotay02 In reply to SeanMcKinney [2008-10-16 19:22:28 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I think you'll definatly like what I've got coming up next.

As for the CCS part, during the cutscene Cortana says: "But, I've isolated approach signatures from multiple CCS-class battle groups, ....." That's my main reason to make it a class. Another reason is because every possible site you look you see that they make it a CCS-class Battlecruiser. For one, Halopedia does.

But I guess it's a bit open to interpretation.

SeanMcKinney In reply to chakotay02 [2008-10-17 14:59:54 +0000 UTC]

I see your point, but don't trust halopeida further then you can throw it. It's open source and every crack pot with an internet connection can alter it. Personally I think that she was refering to the fact that the battle groups were made up of Capital ships. I know the navy and that particular acronym only makes sense to me that way. I guess the only way to know for sure would be to ask the people at bungie.

There is some contradiction in the measurements.

The Seraph-Fighter is actually 28 Metres. See link.
>[link]

Phantom-Dropship is actually 32 Metres. See link.
>[link]

Your works are quite impressive I might say and the UNSC Comparison are amazing.
