Description
For my Advanced 3D Modeling and Texturing class, I decided to model an original character I plan to use for my senior film, Sol. I made a mistake applying a toon shader and got a mix of realistic shading with toon/ramp shading to get hard black shading for the darkest shadows, kind of like a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 style. I hopefully will rig in in the animation/rigging class offered next semester.Modeled in Maya, textured in Photoshop

Oh wow, that does remind me of MvC3. Even if it does look sorta cartoony, I personally really like it. Can't wait to see it in action at some point.

I remember this dude! He has solar powers...or solar based energy...whatever comes first. Anyway, I kinda thought you were just gonna give up on this dude being that we only saw two drawings of him. This looks good, can't wait to see him animated. Oh yeah did ya get Toon Boom Animate yet, or are ya just gonna stick with flash?

Haha awesome that you remember this! Yeah I am using this character in a 2D senior animation next year, and YES I now use Toon Boom Animate 2 and I love it. It is a much more effective animation program than flash. Workflow is faster, color palettes, brush strokes look 10x better, and some very useful effects, like PAINTING a tone on to a character without having to draw outlines and then color

Thanks, and yeah I'm going to save that for my class in the fall dedicated for rigging/animation
