Another switch around thing.This time with *Raynart7 and *Mikaley .
Raynart asked if we want to make a switch meme with her.
She wantet to draw our fursonas. But then we are agreed to make the three legendary dogs from Pokemon x)
(Yeah, if someone will tell me 'they are big cat Pokemon..' I must say that they were dogs for me all the time. I never fell them as cats in my mind)
You see, I did Entei's sketch, Suicune's outlines and Raikou's coloration.

Technically none of them are cats or dogs.
Entei is based on a foo dog, which is what the Chinese did with a description of a lion
Raikou is based on a thunder demon raijou which can take the form of a monkey, tiger, or something else
Suicune is based on a kirin/quilin/however you want to spell it, which is essentially a japanese unicorn
This is a really cool meme though, and you guys did an awesome job ouo

Hm, a Pokemon source (think it was pokewiki) told me that entei is based by a lion, raikou a tiger and suicune a cheetah (but it looks clearly like a dog in my eyes)
But your examples sound also really interesting. FOo dog and thunder demon yay. But quilin.. hmm they doesn't look like suicune in my mind^^"

Foo dogs technically are lions, but there aren't any lions naturally in China (where the foo dog was created) so when explorers brought back descriptions of a lion they liked the sound of it so much that they created the foo dog.
The quilin connection is due to the water purification and how hard it is to find suicune in actual anime/movie canon (not going off of the games). Also, some people have seen the diamond-like projection from its head as an antler-esque structure.
The best way to make everybody happy though would be to just call them legendary beasts huh XD
