Description i tried to keep the girl looking young..around 8 or so...
but she just looks like she has short arms ahahaha cries
and a very mature face

my 5 years amounts to this.

SOoooo I think I have gotten lazy. I havent been drawing passionately as I use to. But...
I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for tagging along my journey as a artist. (if i dare call myself that)

Aww~ Love the colors. And wow, it HAS been like 5 years O_O
On another note, if you want to make her look young, I think you can try scooting up her nose a little? Might help with the childish look.

You've definitely improved! Especially in the anatomy.

A few little things I could perhaps point out though. She does look like she's wearing make-up, which may not help with the childish look. This reference picture might help! birdsistersstock.deviantart.co… . I also think the contrast could be stronger, but that might be personal taste. Good job!

Thank you. Yes! I completely agree with you, her face is too mature for her tiny petite body and age.

Oh, nice stock image. Will keep that mind. Though, I guess it is hard for me to define makeup and make-up less with a anime style since it kind of flows inbetween? XD Perhaps not giving her dark eyelashes would have helped, since she is indeed a red head.

The contrast could be stronger! Perhaps beside the picture beside of it is so strong it washes out the right picture? XD

Aw, sorry for the late reply.

I know a page that would help you heaps when it comes to drawing children! pinterest.com/characterdesigh/…

About the contrast, I think somewhere in between the old painting and the new would work well. Balance is best when in doubt. Or though if you're aiming for a more 'realism' approach, then contrast is definitely the best direction to go. I think that if you're going for a dreamy look, then instead of lowering the contrast, make the colours lighter? I've never tried it, but reference is always good.

Hi! I stumbled across this and I couldn't resist commenting

While the drawing from 2008 is more dramatic with coloring, the soft feel of the newest drawing pulls me in more. You may call it lazy, but I have to disagree. The softer, more subtle lines look overall more realistic and believable.

I can also see an improvement in the flow of the hair and fabric

Fantastic work

For the lazy part, although I was a bit lazy towards the end of this picture, I do mean lazy in general as I haven't been drawing as much as I should. XD

Thank you so much for your comment and nice words. Wow, nice people here.
