I finally confirmed for myself that the myth of Super Tails is real, and he is awesome. Figuring out that I had Sonic 3 & Knuckles in my possession has been the pinnacle of my summer. B)Though, I gotta admit, I was a little underwhelmed. All Super Tails gets is a few flickies buzzing around him? He probably could have just gone down to the beach with an open bag of chips and achieved the same effect, without having to go through 14 bonus stages.
It's okay, I still love you, pre-3D Tails.

Ah, but you see, he is the single most powerful character in the GAME.
He can go Super with a shield on, unlike Sonic - so he can keep that Lightning shield you won in the bonus stage... oh, and it's easier to recharge his rings than it would be with Sonic, since if Sonic picks up a shield while super/hyper then he has to lose it if he's been in a bonus stage.
He can fly and swim, something that already made him powerful - and which still lets him get to places the others can't.
Those flickies will beat ANY enemy or boss that doesn't have to hurt itself, in seconds. Sonic and Knuckles' special moves in Hyper don't damage bosses - Tails' automatic death Flickies do.
If he had this powerset again, in any game, it'd be monumentally broken - remember how powerful Cream was in Sonic Advance 2? And that was just one Chao, not four invincible Flickies and an invincible Tails.
