Watch the version with sound here: [link]My Design Studio assignment. We were to choose our own minor projects, so I decided to create an opening title sequence for SiS. I was very far ahead in this class so I procrastinated UNTIL THE VERY LAST MINUTE so...I guess, there's not as much smooth movement as I had hoped. But I'm still quite happy with the results.
The visual style in the first half of the sequence is influenced by the title sequence for Catch Me If You Can. The drawings weren't supposed to look so rough, but my lecturer seemed to favour the rough look in my animatic so I stuck with it. Less work is always good!
Ahaha the walk cycle is a lot more ..'cat-walk' like than intended. I admit, I didn't do enough studying to do it properly. God, Spade looks like he's in pain just doing that walk.

They're calling each other in order they appear in: diamond -> club -> heart -> spade. Joker would have called Diamond though.

So awesome. I know how hard it is to animate using Flash (well, I think that's flash) and it's a BITCH. So that's a lot of work, and it turned out great. I actually really liked the stick figure part, because they were in such intricate poses and I dunno, it made me laugh.

The animation was great an' the timing = superb.
Really like the Kamina-esqe eyelashes some of the characters have going on XD;
I hate to nit-pick but there was one thing I noticed: Diamond's comb never landed back on the ground o_____o; REALLY high ceiling? Epic surprise throw? Both? XD;;
All in all loved the animation, the card pyramid at the end was excellent >w< <3

ahaha darn you caught me. I was just too lazy to animate it falling tbh. BUT LET'S JUST SAY IT'S STUCK IN THE CEILING FAN OR SOMETHING.

The music was perfect. The use of the rough lines was great. The flow of the animation was noooiiice~ and the cat walk touch was LOL AMAZING.
This'll come out long, BUT- I JUST GOTTA TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LIKE THIS. So. Here we go.
The rough lines made the whole animation great. Personally, I think softer lines would have ruined the great and dynamic feel to this animation sequence. Especially because the music was just so action based, sharp, and Flipping awesome. Also, the lines gave the animation that kind of 'old-school comic book' feel that's just really refreshing here. The mix of the black and white scales and the bold red colors was just amazing. It made everything pop out and bold. I also liked that pure black shading technique LOL. It made the sequence clip seem serious, but then the personalities of the characters canceled that out, which was hilarious. Love it. I just love it LOL. Then there was that cat walk part of the clip- that was incredible, because it was somewhat exaggerated (I read your Artist Comment), but I found it extremely creative and such a nice touch. xD The whole clip was dynamic. I keep saying that, but it IS. AND LOVELY. THE IDEA WAS GREAT TOO. Stacking the cards. I LOL'D.
I just gotta give a lot of credit to your expressions by the way. I've loved them ever since I've read your MSN convos in your journals LOL. They're the best. They always have the power to make me spew my breakfast out every other morning before school.
I'm not an animator, so I can't really critique this honestly. Freaking awesome job mang.

I had the music first and animated accordingly- if you're going to have sound you should ALWAYS record first and THEN animate to it. You'd have to be extremely lucky to just hope the sounds/music will sync in with the animation LOL.

Haha, I love how when they meet up with Joker, Spade and the others are all, "OK, let's go! -srs face-" and Diamond's expression is kind of like, "Why do we have to do this!? D8" And Joker just flops on the card tower. XD
Great job on the animation! I wish I had the patience to do that frame-by-frame. Animators always have my utmost respect.
