Description

„Day after day, while seeking the tree before the start of each workday, I began to realise that this ancient linden is becoming for me something much more important than a beautiful crown, an interesting silhouette, a photographic object. It was becoming my bridge, my means of communication with the depths of the earth, in which we too are rooted, and the endless expanse of sky to which, without realising it, we strive ... In the silence of dawn, this ancient tree was beginning to speak to me ... Or rather, I was beginning to listen, to learn to decipher, to understand its messages. And gradually, I realised that it was someone with whom I could be silent. Someone who was always there for me and had all the time in eternity at its disposal. Someone I could lean on. Someone to whom I could turn, without hesitation, in difficult and troubled moments to seek solace, peace, and to return to myself.

The tree was a bridge to eternity; bridge I could traverse whenever I lost myself so that I could feel the power of roots and of the invincible, indomitable, indefatigable yearning for the skies. So that I could find my way back to the expanse of energy where we as human beings belong - in the unsteady balance and continuous movement of the boundary between earth and heaven.

The imperishable serenity with which the tree greeted every test of time - the storms and seasons - even when losing the strongest branches of its crown also became my teacher ... I watched and understood how much weaker we humans are, compared to this tree - even though we could axe it down - and how fearful we are, when we turn our life into perpetual circumvention of difficulties and escape from our place ... Every touch of the bark of this tree filled me with the power of its equanimity and perseverance, and I felt that in the infinite harmony of the universe year after year, morning after morning, the tree greeted the sun and the sun expected to be greeted by the tree. And this simple picture was eternity itself - everything was where it was meant to be, in its very place ... "
