Bulma and Puar from Dragonball Z.Characters are owned by the absolutely wonderful Akira Toriyama
I have been so busy working on other projects for work that I wanted to take the time this weekend to do something non-work related. It felt great! And I wish I could do it more often ;-;
There are a few things unfinished in the piece so I might touch this up later.
Bulma taking on the task of ship maintenance
We are going to pretend that the blue goo leaking out from one of the ship's batteries is eco-friendly

It's a pretty good show, Akira Toriyama, the show creator, has some of the most fascinating character designs I have ever seen, plus his art style is very unique and corky

amazing work! the characters, the ship, the enviroment... (on what planet are they on? Looks interesting.) Ahaha, the little creatures under Bulmas feet... ! They would say "get off my head, you're heavy, alien!" XD

This is so gorgeous.
The capsule corp. vehicle/pod looks just super realistic. You must have put a lot of work in this and it came out great.
The background looks really fantastical. I love those little purple things with the faces, although I'm not really sure what they are (rocks?)
The light and shading looks great. Very realistic too. Especially the water just looks awesome. It's like you can virtually touch it and feel it running down your fingers.
I normally don't like it when the characters are not close to Toriyama's drawing style but I love the way you drew Bulma. She kinda looks like a pin-up model. And Puar actually resembles Toriyama's style very much but she still looks different and individual.
I love love love this work and there is nothing I could possibly complain about

haha, I have been meaning to create a tutorial but I don't think it will do anyone much good. I mean, whenever I paint something I approach it in a different way, however I always use basic fundamentals when I paint such as what is the color of light vs. the color of shadow, which initials plays into what the color of the bounce light is off of objects. I'm not really doing anything special, the only unique thing I am trying to do is create a unique and interesting illustration.
I could create a brush tutorial, but there are thousands out there already that already explain the basics in that.
I think when my schedule becomes less hectic I will do a few live stream sessions

what I really like about your approach are the colors you choose. I tend to use a much more common palette but in your case you use...how do I say it... interesting colors, makes me feel in a storybook or something, just love it.
what i would really like to know is how you choose the shades to be so unique!

Ummm, it might be a gradient with a mask on the layer...that's how I normally soften everything up

Also, this looks super fresh for being a dragon ball drawing, totally non copied from the original visual line.
My only little critique would be that the stars, looking so centered and flat, make the dragon balls look kinda fake.
