A lot of deviantartists keep misusing the block user option. Have you ever blocked by someone you once watched, for a dumb, unfair, or hypocritical reason? The blocking can only do so much. You could still view and download the picture, but you canβt favorite or view the profile. Plus, things work differently on the mobile app, you can view the profile, but not favorite the pictures.ΒRelated content

Like I was just telling ChanyHuman below (I don't want to tag,) instead of blocking, why not just ignore the person or ask them not to talk to you? (not you personally, ChanyHuman, anyone reading this.) Blocking should be a last resort and I recommend warning someone before blocking them. I don't usually just block people anymore.

Well, you might think it's a dumb, unfair, and hypocritical reason, but those who block DO have their reasons that are valid. It's best to respect that. It hurts, I know. But it's usually for the best. I have had to block some people without really telling why because they either spammed 100 favorites in my profile without a single comment (most of them being fanfics I work real hard on that they don't even read), mocked my art by saying it's "shitty" or "traced" or "awful" or whatever insult they could come up with, or mocking some of my pairings (for example the gay ones, or the big-age gapped ones - they'd often call pedophilia, when really BOTH consent to the relationship!) That's to name a few. So, there is a good reason, even if you, the person who got blocked, doesn't think so.

Being blocked is a major disadvantage, especially to the innocent, those who don't deserve it! I've been blocked by a few people on DA although one unblocked me thank goodness! Well, i couldn't add his pictures to my faves at first and now I can! But two others blocked me for some unknown or no good reason, including one person who inspired me to make a dish.
I've blocked some people too, some just for being rude to me once, some before they had a chance to even talk to me, and realize those were not fair, so I unblocked some people who were on still on DA. But I've blocked some people for no good reason, and without warning, and that was wrong.
I don't mind being blocked to an extent but I hate it when you cannot even view the profile of the person who blocked you or add his submissions to your favorites and what you already faved disappears from your favorites!
But I guess if people block you without a good reason or without telling you why, maybe they're not good for you anyway and you don't need them!
I don't mind not being friends with other Deviants, I didn't come here to make friends anyway (or make enemies!) I just came to admire art, add it to my favorites, leave comments, and a year after joining, share art!

I've dealt with it plenty of times. I even remember blocked me after I told him what I requested. Even after asking him plenty of times & being blocked, I tried to apologize but it didn't phase him. I even got blocked by his friend for apologizing for being impatient. I even got blocked by for just faving her art by & many others. It was just bad. Even , & others blocked me for no reason.

Much, if not all, of that, is unfair, although I did block some people for what they did to someone else and now I know that wasn't fair!
It sucks to be blocked for no reason! But sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles and some people are just jerks no matter what you do! Unfortunately it's impossible to please and be friends with everyone! And cannot say I don't get annoyed with people myself, even well-meaning people!
This is one reason why it's now so important to me to treat ALL others, (including whoever's reading this,) the way I want to be treated, and not just because I'm told to, but from my heart! When I do something wrong to someone, it's on me! But if I'm wronged, it's on the one who wronged me! Cannot be bad to someone and expect them to treat me any better!

Iβve had a lot of trolls and spammers post rude, crude and also revolting stuff on my profile before, but I blocked them all, the bastards. Iβve also have closed all requests to most of the members who watch me forever so that I can focus on other stuff besides art, except for 4, because those four members I can trust cause they are not crude, rude, greedy and very mean trolls and spammers like the ones I blocked from my account.

Well this one troll named Ahmad Aldaim who started watching me and started to be friends with me really was a Trump supporter and a Star Wars basher which also made him a traitor cause he betrayed me, so I blocked him. I also blocked another who kept posting pictures of guys dicks being cut off. And one kept asking me to draw some Loudcest art so I blocked her as well.
