I R SUBMITTED SOMETHING! O_OAnyhoo. A few weeks ago ~GamemasterMZ asked me if I could draw him a SA styled version of Princess Sally - so I did. Unfortunately, I know this isn't exactly what he wanted, but because of out of the 30 odd concepts I did for this pic, absolutely none of them came out how I wanted. Blast Sally and her evil "can't translate into the SA style well"-ingness!
Just for the record, this will probably be my first and last Archie styled fanart, mainly because (A) I hate the series (Mie put it best when she said "It's Sonic the Hedgehog for those who don't like Sonic the Hedgehog."), and (B) Archie characters are so freaking hard to translate into a full on SA style it isn't even funny. In terms of the Archie style, you pretty much have to start from scratch. Things you need to have on a Sonic Team style characters are proportional body parts (an overly large mis-shapen head compared to a minute human shaped body doesn't work), and also a bracelet, or gloves to seperate the hands and arms. I mean, this looks nothing like the Archie Sally. Well, I tried. Not my best attempt at the SA style, but I'm happy with the way it's come out at least.

as for the argument i can not realy ageree then again i dont realy care for either Sega Sonic and Archie Sonic they just both have bad points to me then again the Archie Sonic X comic is ...well to many bad points

This is a great pic, the only flaw with Sally is her eyes are the wrong color, she has blue eyes, not green. But still this is an excellent pic.

You grew up on Fleetway which was largely based off the Genesis games, If that's what you like, It's perfectly fine by me. jest don't talk trash on my views and you won't get on my bad side.
I grew up largely on the SatAM series and the Internet communities from early on, Partially due to SatAM, I veered away from Star Trek and embraced Furry Fandom in time. I also collected the Comics until Tojo ordered Penders to kill off my fave (American) character Lupe, at that point I started writing my own works and have been refining them over the years, that and I sold my issues (every single one from The Fabled Issue #0) For more than 200 USD. And Themie was right, SatAM is largely for the American and Aussie Audience, mainly those that don't follow the games, but want something more.

Anyways the pic...well...its kinda hard to tell Sally's a girl in the pic because she looks like a young boy and I know you were going for a new aproach to her but it just doesnt really seem to be fitting.I prefer the classic styled B)

Sally was originally SatAM, I think. Personally, I liked her muchly in SatAM but then Archie went and bastardized her character, as well as everything else :\ (Psst, there's an anti-Archie club)

Onto teh art~ I like eet, though it looks a bit strange. She is hard to SA-ize, and stuff. Spiffy, nice work :3

ANYways, it's nice to see Sally getting some art love, since even more people are going to hate her now thanks to Bollers. GAH I want to hurt him. Anyway, the last 2 Sonic comics, and probably from now on, is in Sonic Team style, and it works well even though I'm sick of it and wish everyone would leave Sonic Team style to Sonic Team and stick to their own styles. x_x If you like I can send you scans of the covers (or you can get them from SonicHQ) if you ever want to try again.

My stance on the whole Archie subject is pretty much how I've described it; I don't like it. At all. Of course, when I say "It's Sonic the Hedgehog for those who don't like Sonic the Hedgehog" I don't mean that in quite such a literal sense. Of course there are people who love all forms of Sonic, regardless, and it's not like I'm complaining about them at all. In fact, I do applaud them for having such an open mind and coming to the conclusion that each universe is as good as eachother. I'm not instructing people what to like and what not to like. Just because a person likes Archie doesn't make them my worst enemy or anything. Far from it. I myself loved the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Fleetway universes. Though in my personal opinion, Archie took Sonic in a direction that just didn't work.
My statement is in a more mainstream sense, as in the people who adore Archie more than anything else in the world, and think this incarnation of the universe should take precedence over the official Sonic Team one. Ever since I had an extremely long winded argument with a rabid Archie fangirl over how much Yuji Naka is a liar and how Sonic Team aren't the true creators of Sonic, the saying fits. If they don't like the official Sonic Team universe, tough shit. That's the official one that will feature in the games, and as much as you don't want it to be, Archie will never take it's place. Get over it.
And yes, I firmly agree Archie should stick to it's own unique style. It's what makes it unique, after all.
That's my two cents. And I'm sorry if I've offended with my views. Particularly to you, Nuku. CK ish bad. WAH.

SO Cute! I have grown to hate Archie (mostly for the brain-rot storylines) and have hated Sally more than any other character since the comic began.. even so, this style makes it hard, even for me, to want to kill her. So.. er.. a roundabout compliment, but a compliment just the same!

Erm, Archie version WAS good, up until issh 51. Then they totally strayed away for the original SatAM storyline they had based it on, since (the better, more evil and malicious, more hate-able, and not as sucky of a villan as the goofy, rediculous Eggman :fumes
...Sorry, grew up on SatAM, it's what made me like Sonic. ...Nostalgia anyone?
Anywayyyyy... Aside from my pickiness of the eye color, it turned out really great. The pose was very well executed, and the transition looks smooth, she'd fit very well in one of the games. =3

This is great, actually xD Even though Archie is my least favorite Sonic universe EVER, I like this ^.^ The way you designed her to be a little more close to the game-design is pretty cool.. even though she just has Miles' shoes.. except light blue xD!! (NOOOO! LIGHT BLUE! THE GLORIOUS COLOR HAS BEEN PLAGUEEEED.. *Kicked*)

But yeah.. it must be hard to convert other styles into SA.. but that's coming from someone who can't do SA-style AT ALL anyway.

The only real complaints I have are that Sally's face seems a little flat and the hair doesn't seem streamlined enough for the SA style. Other then that it's pretty solid, the color job is pretty nice.

Anyway, it's pretty good. It's like a custom Sally of sorts.
And I wouldn't know if this counts as translating into the SA style, but I happened to notice that one of the recent covers' coloring jobs was done in SA style...and it looked kinda accuate to me, but that's just my saying.

I haven't seen the cover in question, mainly cos Archie doesn't exist here in the UK unless you import. Which is personally a good thing.
Would be interesting to take a look at it, though and see Archie's own rendition of it. Personally I think they should stick to their own unique style.

I too have similar problems...I am a huge fan of Mario, and yet I can not draw him the way I want him *super sigh*. So, I understand.
I am a fan of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog, even when they start messing things up. So, this is a masterpiece I definitely put in my favorite.

Awa, they're not THAT hard to translate o_o I've drawn Sally, Antoine, Bunnie and have Rotor in the works... And so far, Antoine and Rotor are the only ones who've really given me big time trouble.
For not being used to drawing SatAM and/or Archie chars, SA-style or not, it turned out really great =3 I like how you gave her a slight redesign to give her more of a game-ish feel, it works really well for her. The green eyes are a little odd tho, but I guess that's because I'm just used to seeing them blue.
I really like the hands for some reason o_o
