Description
This would be Hanni’s first conformation show, though she has been to a few sport shows. Allesandra was not concerned about Hanni behaving as she has been worked with on grooming and showing protocol. Hanni is not a high-strung or insanely overly driven dog which makes her a dream to travel with. Unlike a few of CAK’s other dogs Hanni can handle more extended periods of down time. Once her and the other dogs arrived in New York, staff took them out for walks and some training. This was enough for Hanni to fully settle and she was prepared for her grooming. As a long coated NACD, her grooming takes longer than Lolli or Patchy’s would. She requires a bath, a blow dry, and to be fully brushed out. This takes about an hour to ensure she is fully dry and fluffy.
The morning of the show, Hanni was taken on a long walk and given one more brush out. At the park, she was clearly excited to be at such a large park with so many smells and other dogs. It took her a moment to resettle. Hanni stayed in her travel kennel while she waited for her group to be called. When the herding group was up, Hanni was eager to trot around the show ring. While she had never been to a conformation show, she has been trained enough on what to do that she performed well. She clearly saw showing as a form of working and was eager to perform her job, even if at this point said job was just to trot around the ring and look nice. After her turn, she was taken on a quick walk in between the groups before being returned to her crate with a treat to wait until the show was over.
