Description
Dog: CAK's Plot Twist
Show: NYC Pride
Audrey was in charge of the parade dogs. She had Trixie as the primarily adorned dog. With her long luxurious, and white, fur, Trixie made for a perfect dye canvas. Before the handlers left for New York City, Bethany spent a day dying Trixie’s ears with horizontal stripes from red at the base to violet at the tips. Trixie’s tail was dyed with vertical rainbow stripes from violet at the base to red at the tip, the top of her tail was left undyed with only the feathering being colored. Bethany’s favorite part of the whole dye job, and the pièce de résistance, was rainbow colored leopard rosettes. It left Trixie looking very much like a Lisa Frank dog, which had been the goal.
During the weeks leading up to the show, Aimee spent some time making a custom collar for Trixie. She repurposed an old purple leather collar by cleaning it up and attaching a bunch of cubic zirconium crystals in all the colors of the rainbow in a similar style to the blood drop pearl necklaces. This process hadn’t taken much time, which was good as she also made a custom rainbow that could be attached to a harness base and would stand freely. It was made up of a rainbow plush attached to a pvc stand. This pvc stand could then be fitted into a holder on a small leather harness. This allows the rainbow to be detached from the harness for traveling and storage. With these accessories completed, Trixie was ready for New York!
At the show, Trixie required minimal preparation. She was given a quick brush and had her collar and harness fitted. Once actively at the parade, the rainbow was slotted into the harness and she was ready to go! While Trixie is a rather chaotic dog, she does have excellent leash manners and adores people. As such, she had a blast at the parade! She got to trot around with a bunch of people and get fawned over.
