Description
Given the order CAK’s high jump dogs were in each time the jump would be raised a board, Pie would go and then Blue would. Blue had been high jump trained prior to CAK acquiring her, as such this was our first time really seeing her perform as the kennels have a wall jump set-up not a high jump. Allisandra quickly learned that Blue had an........ Interesting technique when the boards were low. She would jump practically straight up before angling herself towards the ground over the jump and tucking her legs in as tight as possible. She would then just let gravity pull her back down. The first time she did this, Allisandra and the audience had a good chuckle at it.Once the jumps started to get higher, Blue’s jumps leveled out. For a period she jumped rather normally, winding up in the hind end and pushing off to arc over the boards. When the height was finally well over Blue’s head she began to spring straight up again, this time to hook her front paws over the top board. Using her shoulder muscles and scrabbling with her back paws she hauled herself over the top, jumping down to the ground.
Unlike Pie, once over the jump Blue was excellent at staying put until collected by Allisandra. Her past kennel had clearly put a lot of time into teaching her manors around the jumps. Despite Blue’s usual shyness, she was calm and focused the entire time the competition ran. Overall, the high jump competition went well for both of CAK’s dogs. Both pups brought their A-game and their best behavior. Once the competition was over the dogs were given a good check over to ensure they had no pulled muscles and then taken on a long stroll to cool their muscles. Finally both dogs and Allisandra joined up with Audrey and the parade dogs.
